When they meet, the two try to get one of Wayne’s songs heard in Nashville. The film was directed by William Wages and stars Rob Mayes and Beau Bridges.
What is The Neon Highway about?
Wayne Collins had been close to making it in Nashville before a car accident interrupted his music career. Years later, while working to support his family, he meets Claude Allen, a once-famous country performer whose career has faded. Wayne brings the songwriting; Claude brings a name and industry connections. They head to Nashville with Wayne’s song, but the promotional synopsis says the industry is no longer interested in either the song or Claude.

The story follows Wayne as he finds another way to put the song before the public for Claude. That setup makes the film a drama about songwriting, second chances and the difficulty of getting music heard. It is a fictional story, not a documentary account of the Nashville music business.
