The defining award result was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which won Game of the Year and eight more awards.
What happened at The Game Awards 2025?
The December 11 show mixed its annual awards ceremony with game announcements, trailers and live musical performances. Its featured projects ranged from new franchise entries to films and other entertainment properties. The titles below are selected highlights, not a complete list: Video Games Chronicle reported that the event included more than 50 reveals, new trailers and other announcements.
The biggest game reveals
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic
The official event recap listed Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic among the show’s featured projects. Xbox Wire also highlighted the reveal. The cited recaps establish it as a prominent announcement, but do not provide enough detail here to characterize its gameplay or release plans.
Two Tomb Raider projects
The show featured Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst. The official recap and Xbox Wire identified both titles, making the pair one of the night’s notable franchise announcements. The available event summaries do not establish further details about their gameplay or release timing.

Xbox Wire’s recap added Control Resonant and Ontos to the show’s notable reveals. The source identifies them as announcements from the event; it does not support adding unreported specifics about their mechanics or launch dates.

Other announcements and featured projects
The official event recap also named 007 First Light, 4:LOOP, Invincible VS, Out of Words and WARLOCK: DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. It included The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, underscoring that the broadcast’s featured entertainment extended beyond games.
Additional titles in Video Games Chronicle’s roundup included Divinity, Gang of Dragon, Mega Man: Dual Override, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Total War: Warhammer 40,000. That outlet also covered release-date and platform news, but the event-time roundup alone does not establish whether any particular game is currently available or still upcoming.

For another dated announcement, Xbox Wire reported that Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred was announced for April 28, 2026. That date has passed; the announcement’s original timing should not be taken as confirmation of its current release status.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 dominated the awards
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won Game of the Year and eight additional categories, for nine awards in total. The other wins were:
