Netflix’s animation slate includes feature films and series spanning family stories, adult comedy, anime, and preschool programming. These 15 picks are an editorial shortlist, not a Netflix ranking. The clearest upcoming dates in Netflix’s July 2026 announcement are Steps on November 20, In Waves on December 11, and Ray Gunn on December 18; announced dates can change. Steps — November 20, 2026
This feature revisits Cinderella through her stepsisters, Lilith and Margot. When a stolen magic wand throws the kingdom into disorder, the sisters have to work with Cinderella. The announced cast includes Ali Wong, Amanda Seyfried, Stephanie Hsu, Nikki Glaser, and Bette Midler. In Waves — December 11, 2026
Based on AJ Dungo’s graphic novel, the film follows AJ, a shy teenager who loves skateboarding and drawing, and Kristen, who loves surfing. Director Phuong Mai Nguyen leads a cast that Netflix says includes Will Sharpe and Stephanie Hsu. The adaptation’s connection to a specific graphic novel makes this one of the slate’s clearest source-material picks. Netflix’s announcement.

Ray Gunn — December 18, 2026
Brad Bird directs this science-fiction noir, set in an alternate future imagined from 1939. Private eye Raymond Gunn investigates aliens, murder, and Venus Nova, a multimedia star. The announced cast includes Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Waits. Its period-inflected vision of the future and detective premise give it a different flavor from the slate’s fairy-tale and coming-of-age features. Netflix’s announcement.
The One Piece — February 2027
This is a new anime adaptation beginning with the East Blue saga of the manga. Netflix identifies WIT Studio as its producer and distinguishes the project from the long-running television anime. Starting at the beginning of the saga offers a separate entry point; it is not simply a new season of that existing series. Netflix’s July 2026 slate announcement.
Ghostbusters: Night Shift — 2027
Set in New York in 1994, the series follows young New Yorkers confronting supernatural threats with proton packs. Netflix’s announcement names executive producers including Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Amie Karp, and Dan Aykroyd. A specific day or month was not given. Projects to track, with timing or availability to recheck
These titles appeared in Netflix announcements from 2025 or earlier. Those announcements help establish the projects and their premises, but an old release window is not a current schedule.

Netflix’s Annecy announcement describes siblings Stevie and Elliot entering a dream landscape and gave the film a fall 2025 window. Long Story Short
Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s animated comedy follows one family across time, moving between the Schwooper siblings’ childhood and adulthood. Mating Season

How to read Netflix’s animation slate
The lineup is not one kind of animation or one release calendar: it spans features and series for preschool, family, adult, and anime audiences. Netflix said in 2026 that more than 130 million members worldwide watched a variety of animated titles every month, and that its anime programming received more than 1.5 billion views in 2025. These are Netflix-published figures; they describe members and views as stated, not unique animation subscribers or independently audited audience totals. Netflix’s 2026 announcement.
For planning a watchlist, separate projects with a dated announcement from titles that only have a premise or an older release window. Netflix’s July 2026 dates offer the strongest near-term schedule in this selection; announcements from 2025 remain useful for identifying projects, but not for assuming they are still forthcoming.
