What is The Acolyte about?
The Acolyte is a TV-14 action, adventure, mystery, science-fiction and thriller series set in the High Republic era, during the Jedi Order’s prime and centuries before The Phantom Menace. Lucasfilm described its setting as the final days of that era. The official premise begins with a Jedi investigation into a crime spree and a dangerous warrior linked to a Jedi Master’s past. StarWars.com’s series page and Lucasfilm’s cast announcement provide the official framing.
The season uses shifting information to revisit past events and character motives. Showrunner Leslye Headland described its structure to StarWars.com this way: “The show is an onion. Each episode peels away to reveal something else. I hope the experience of watching it is both suspenseful and satisfying.”

Episode guide: eight spoiler checkpoints
The official guide lists eight episodes, from “Lost / Found” to “The Acolyte.” Its summaries are brief orientation points, not full accounts of every scene.
- “Lost / Found”: After a shocking crime in the galaxy’s distant reaches, the Jedi track down a prime suspect.
- “Revenge / Justice”: An assassin strikes again on a far-flung world while the Jedi attempt a capture.
- “Destiny”: The tragic journey of two sisters begins on a mysterious planet.
- “Day”: The Jedi race toward the next target as they close in on the assassin.
- “Night”: In a dense jungle, the Jedi confront a rising darkness.
- “Teach / Corrupt”: Two strangers on a distant island world face questions of identity and destiny as they plot their next moves.
- “Choice”: The sisters’ formative past is revisited from a new perspective, revealing a missing truth.
- “The Acolyte”: Past tragedies take on new meaning in light of further truth; a surprise choice points toward an uncertain future.
These checkpoints make useful places to pause a discussion: what information changed your view of an earlier event, and what did the new perspective clarify—or complicate? For scene-by-scene claims, refer to the episodes themselves rather than treating the short official summaries as exhaustive.

Characters and the High Republic connection
Official launch coverage identifies Amandla Stenberg as Mae; Lee Jung-jae as Jedi Master Sol; Manny Jacinto as Qimir; Dafne Keen as Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon; Charlie Barnett as Jedi Knight Yord Fandar; Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya; Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh; Dean-Charles Chapman as Jedi Master Torbin; Carrie-Anne Moss as Jedi Master Indara; and Joonas Suotamo as Jedi Master Kelnacca. These names offer a spoiler-safe cast reference when discussing the season’s shifting roles and loyalties.
Vernestra Rwoh also connects the series to the High Republic publishing line. StarWars.com says she first appeared in Justina Ireland’s 2021 middle-grade novel Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage. The same feature lists Out of the Shadows, Mission to Disaster, Tales of Light and Life (“The Force Provides”), Defy the Storm and Temptation of the Force as further reading connected to Vernestra. These are optional paths for readers interested in the character’s publishing history, not prerequisites established by the series guide. See StarWars.com’s Vernestra Rwoh guide.
