2008: divorce reporting
Contemporary reporting said Karen filed for divorce in September 2008 and that the divorce was finalized on October 26, 2008. The date comes from secondary reporting; the underlying court filing was not verified in the sources available here. Wrestling Inc.’s July 18, 2009 report gives the reported finalization date.
2009: reports about Karen and Jeff
In July 2009, reports surfaced that Karen and Jeff were romantically involved. One Wrestling Inc. report relayed claims from an anonymous caller, including that the two were living together. A follow-up report said multiple unnamed sources placed the start of the relationship in the previous fall. Because those sources were not identified, this establishes what was reported at the time, not a proven start date. The July 18 report and the July 21 update should be read with that distinction in mind.

Later accounts: disagreement remains
Jeff rejected the characterization that he stole Kurt’s wife and said Karen and Kurt were already separated. In a 2026 interview, Karen also said the marriage was already over and disputed the affair framing. Their accounts provide important context, but they do not independently establish when Karen and Jeff began dating. Figure Four Online’s July 10, 2026 report describes Karen’s account.
Did Jeff Jarrett steal Kurt Angle’s wife?
“Stole” is a loaded description, and the available evidence does not support stating it as fact. Jeff and Karen have said Karen and Kurt were separated before the relationship with Jeff began. Meanwhile, contemporary 2009 reports alleged a relationship timeline that may have overlapped with the TV feud, but relied in part on anonymous or unnamed sources. The evidence supports a careful distinction: the divorce was reported as finalized in October 2008; the precise beginning of Karen and Jeff’s relationship remains disputed in the accounts available. It is not established that an affair caused the divorce or that Karen left Kurt for Jeff.

Why the story is still described differently
The accounts differ in both timing and source type. The 2009 reports were contemporaneous but included anonymous or unidentified sources. Karen’s and Jeff’s explanations came later and are first-person accounts from people with direct knowledge, but they are also interested parties and do not settle the exact date independently.
