No—The Acolyte will not return for Season 2. ABC News reported on August 20, 2024, that Lucasfilm would not continue the series, and the Los Angeles Times also confirmed the decision. The available reporting does not document a later revival.
When did The Acolyte air?
Created by Leslye Headland, The Acolyte is set roughly 100 years before The Phantom Menace, in the final years of the High Republic. Its story follows former Padawan Osha and Jedi Master Sol as they investigate crimes.

Why was The Acolyte canceled?
Lucasfilm has not provided a detailed public explanation in the reporting cited here, so there is no confirmed single reason to point to. The Los Angeles Times’ August 22, 2024 report said the show debuted strongly but that ratings reportedly fell in later weeks. It also discussed online backlash and the wider pressures facing expensive streaming series. That reporting offers context, not proof that any one factor caused the decision.

What the premiere-view figure does—and doesn’t—show
Disney said the premiere episode generated 11.1 million global views during its first five days. The company defines a view as total stream time divided by the episode’s runtime, so the figure is not a count of unique people. Disney also reported 4.8 million views in the first day; that uses the same platform-defined measure. Neither figure, by itself, establishes why Lucasfilm chose not to continue the series.

What might Season 2 have been about?
Headland later described ideas she would have explored if a second season had happened, including Qimir’s connections to Vernestra and Plagueis and links to sequel-era lore. GamesRadar+ relayed her comments to Empire on June 4, 2026. These were unmade possibilities—not confirmed plot details for a commissioned season, evidence of completed scripts, or an announcement of future episodes.
