Spoilers for The Acolyte season 1, episode 6. “Teach / Corrupt” is a quieter, more psychological chapter than the Khofar confrontation before it. Its central tension comes from two parallel deceptions: Mae travels with Sol pretending to be Osha, while the real Osha wakes in the Stranger’s care and hears his argument about grief and the dark side. The episode’s best idea is the way those circumstances make each twin confront a version of the other’s life.

Mae poses as Osha aboard the Polan
Sol is traveling toward Coruscant aboard the Polan with Mae disguised as Osha. When the ship loses power before its lightspeed jump, the apparent Osha’s meknek skills give Mae a chance to help. But the performance is not secure: Pip and Bazil detect the ruse. Mae also tries to reach Coruscant through long-range communications, hoping to tell her account of what happened on Brendok before Sol can shape the story himself.
The disguise makes ordinary exchanges feel charged. Sol believes the person beside him is Osha, and his relief at her apparent return leaves him open to Mae’s act. That vulnerability matters because his attachment to Osha is not merely professional; an official StarWars.com feature by Kristin Baver emphasizes his near-paternal bond with her and the emotional aftermath of the Khofar slaughter.

Osha wakes in the Stranger’s care
The real Osha wakes on an unknown world, injured but tended by the Stranger. He knows she is not Mae. Rather than treating her as a prisoner to be interrogated, he tries to persuade her: he speaks about grief, the Force, and the dark side, and attempts to draw her toward his cause. His approach is an act of instruction and seduction at once, making the episode’s title feel like a question about where teaching ends and corruption begins.
Why “Teach / Corrupt” works as a character episode
The episode’s strongest structural choice is to put the twins in situations that echo one another without making them interchangeable. Mae is surrounded by people who mistake her for Osha; Osha is alone with someone who sees her clearly, but wants to influence what she becomes. One sister is trying to control the account of the past, while the other is being offered a new interpretation of it.
Rank #2
That split gives the hour a useful kind of suspense. On the Polan, the question is how long Mae can sustain the deception and whether Sol will understand what has happened. With Osha, the uncertainty is more internal: whether the Stranger’s language can reach her, and what parts of his account might feel persuasive to someone carrying grief. The episode does not need a constant stream of action to keep its stakes alive; the danger lies in what each character chooses to believe.
Pacing and connection to Episode 5
After Episode 5’s external danger and combat, “Teach / Corrupt” deliberately shifts toward conversation, suspicion, and psychological pressure. That contrast gives the series room to follow the consequences of Khofar rather than treating the previous confrontation as a self-contained spectacle. It also means the episode can feel slower if a viewer is primarily looking for immediate plot movement. The Polan sequence supplies a practical crisis, but much of the installment’s momentum comes from the role reversal and the Stranger’s attempt to shape Osha’s thinking.

The official guide says the group makes a startling discovery, but the episode’s larger emphasis remains the unsettled personal aftermath: what Sol believes, what Mae wants him to believe, and what Osha may be willing to hear.
How it fits the larger series
The Acolyte is set roughly 100 years before The Phantom Menace, in the final years of the High Republic. Lucasfilm says the series debuted on Disney+ on June 4, 2024. Its official premise frames the story as an investigation into a crime spree that brings a respected Jedi Master into conflict with a dangerous warrior from his past. “Teach / Corrupt” advances that mystery less by adding a new spectacle than by showing how competing accounts and emotional loyalties can influence what the characters do next.
Rank #4
As a review judgment, the installment is most effective when its two storylines speak to each other: Mae’s effort to get ahead of Sol’s version of Brendok and the Stranger’s effort to make Osha see the dark side differently. It is a bridge episode in pace, but not an empty one. Its quieter scenes make identity itself feel unstable, and turn the sisters’ separation into the season’s immediate source of suspense.
