Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThese 13 picks span musical parodies, family awkwardness and character comedy—from the infamous “Schweddy Balls” to Steve Martin’s wildly self-serving holiday wish. “Best” is subjective, so this is a curated selection rather than a definitive ranking. SNL and Peacock usually call these performances sketches; one entry, Adam Sandler’s “The Hanukkah Song,” is Hanukkah-themed rather than a Christmas sketch, included as a holiday-adjacent exception.
The list follows Peacock’s holiday guide, grouped by comic style rather than ranked from best to worst. The season and episode references below identify where each sketch appeared; Peacock’s guide is an editorial selection, not a complete catalog of SNL holiday material.
Family awkwardness and holiday gatherings
1. “Christmas Robe” — Season 46, Episode 9
A family lavishes gifts on one another while the mother, played by Kristen Wiig, tries to disguise her disappointment at receiving a sale robe. The joke lands on a familiar holiday mismatch: the effort and excitement around gift-giving do not guarantee that the gift itself will delight its recipient.
2. “(Do It on My) Twin Bed” — Season 39, Episode 10
A returning girl group sings about bringing their boyfriends home, where the available sleeping arrangements are decidedly unromantic. Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant help turn the awkwardness of being back in a childhood bedroom into a catchy musical number.

Christmas songs and musical parodies
3. “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” — Season 26, Episode 9
Jimmy Fallon, Horatio Sanz, Chris Kattan and Tracy Morgan perform a deliberately chaotic holiday song, driven by a simple refrain and an unusually earnest delivery. Peacock calls it an SNL holiday classic and notes that it became an annual tradition for fans. Peacock’s holiday guide provides the episode reference and its account of the sketch’s lasting appeal.
4. “Santa’s My Boyfriend” — Season 32, Episode 9
Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph decorate a Christmas tree, discover they share an admirer, and turn the revelation into a song about Santa. The sketch pairs a bright, polished performance with the absurdity of treating Santa as a romantic rival.

5. “The Christmas Candle” — Season 44, Episode 8
Emma Stone, Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon sing about receiving a disappointing regifted candle. Its intentionally retro musical style gives a small, recognizable gift-giving grievance the scale of a theatrical production.
6. “Santa Song” — Season 47, Episode 8
Billie Eilish, Kate McKinnon and Ego Nwodim sing a soft, surreal song about an unusual late-night encounter with Santa, played by Kenan Thompson. Its understated mood is a contrast to the louder, more conventional holiday numbers on this list.

7. “The Hanukkah Song” — Season 20, Episode 7
Adam Sandler answers the glut of Christmas songs with a song celebrating Hanukkah and Jewish celebrities. It is a holiday classic associated with SNL, but its subject is Hanukkah—not Christmas—which is why it belongs here as a clearly labeled exception rather than a Christmas sketch proper.
Character comedy and performance showcases
8. “Steve Martin’s Holiday Wish” — Season 12, Episode 6
In this 1986 sketch, Steve Martin begins with the sentimental wish that children everywhere join hands in harmony. He then pivots to requests for himself, including $30 million a month and power over the universe. The increasingly extravagant demands are the point: the warm holiday setup makes the selfish turn sharper.

9. “Drunk Uncle on the Holidays” — Season 37, Episode 10
Bobby Moynihan brings Drunk Uncle to Weekend Update for a holiday-flavored run of confused, nostalgic complaints. One line Peacock highlights is “Can you email me dinner?”—a small example of how the character’s bafflement with modern life fuels the humor.
10. “Santa Baby” — Season 41, Episode 7
Ryan Gosling and Vanessa Bayer play a couple at a neighborhood holiday party whose desire to meet Santa grows increasingly intense. The performance contrast is the engine: Gosling struggles to contain his laughter while Bayer maintains a straight face. The sketch also appears near the top of TV Insider’s separate 2025 holiday-sketch ranking, an indication of one outlet’s taste rather than a universal verdict.

11. “Jennifer Coolidge Is Impressed by Christmas Stuff” — Season 48, Episode 9
Chloe Fineman’s Jennifer Coolidge reacts to ordinary Christmas objects—including stockings, eggnog and “Jingle Bells”—as if each were an astonishing discovery. The sketch is built around the character’s delighted delivery, not an elaborate plot.

12. “NPR’s Delicious Dish: Schweddy Balls” — Season 24, Episode 9
On the holiday edition of the parody radio program, hosts Jo and Terry welcome Alec Baldwin’s baker Pete Schweddy to discuss his signature dessert. The sketch turns a double-entendre name into an extended joke by delivering it with the calm, formal tone of a public-radio interview.
13. “St. Joseph’s Christmas Mass Spectacular” — Season 40, Episode 9
A church service becomes an exaggerated performance, featuring a newly atheist teen and two very different readers. Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney and Cecily Strong appear in the roles described by Peacock. The sketch gets its comic friction from the collision of religious ceremony and show-business spectacle.
