Fall 2025 brought a slate of returning anime franchises, a new spin-off, and an original feature. This editorial watchlist selects ten titles for their established followings, prominence in official seasonal lineups, and range of genres and formats; it is not a definitive popularity ranking. Japan’s seasonal listings confirm the breadth of the lineup, while the cited Netflix dates below come from Netflix Japan and may not match release dates or availability in other regions. Check your local streaming catalog before planning a watch.
Which Fall 2025 anime should you watch?
Use the descriptions below to find a fit by format, genre, or familiarity with the franchise. The schedule information is based on Netflix Japan’s October 1, 2025 announcement unless otherwise noted; those dates are for Japan, not a global release calendar. Crunchyroll’s lineup is also specific to that service. Neither listing establishes availability in every territory. Netflix Japan’s Fall 2025 lineup and Crunchyroll’s lineup announcement are useful starting points, but check the catalog where you live.
The selections span action, comedy, sports, fantasy, and drama, with nine series and one film. Japan’s broader broadcast slate is listed by ORICON; it provides season context, not an audience ranking.
Returning franchises and continuations
SPY×FAMILY Season 3
The Forger family returns: spy Loid, assassin Yor, and telepath Anya continue their cover as an ordinary family. Netflix Japan listed weekly Saturday episodes beginning October 4, 2025, and said WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks would continue animation production. Its mix of espionage, domestic comedy, and action makes it an accessible pick for viewers who want several tones in one series.
#1 Best Overall
Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Part 2
This continuation of the racing-focused Umamusume story was listed for weekly Sunday episodes from October 5, 2025, in Netflix Japan’s schedule. The announcement says this second cour centers on the Japan Cup. It is a natural choice for viewers drawn to sports stories and competitive character drama.
One-Punch Man Season 3
Saitama’s deliberately absurd hero story returned in a third season. Netflix Japan listed weekly Monday episodes beginning October 13, 2025. The premise pits superhero spectacle against the joke that its protagonist can defeat opponents with one punch, making it the action-comedy pick on this list.
Rank #2
My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON
Netflix Japan identifies this as the eighth season and listed weekly Saturday episodes beginning October 4, 2025. The “FINAL SEASON” label makes this the entry for viewers following the long-running superhero-school story toward its conclusion. Newcomers may want to start with earlier seasons rather than treating it as a standalone introduction.
Ranma ½ Season 2
Rumiko Takahashi’s martial-arts romantic comedy continued in a second season, listed by Netflix Japan for weekly Sunday episodes from October 5, 2025. The series is based on Takahashi’s manga, which is optional source material for viewers who want to read beyond the anime; no prior reading is required to start watching.

Rank #3
Kingdom Season 6
The historical war drama returned for a sixth season, with Netflix Japan listing weekly Sunday episodes from October 5, 2025. Netflix’s October 2025 announcement says the source manga had reached 110 million copies in circulation. That figure is circulation, not a count of individual readers, and the announcement does not specify a regional breakdown.
Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill Season 2
This fantasy series follows a protagonist whose unusual skill turns cooking and travel into the center of an isekai adventure. Netflix Japan listed the second season from October 13, 2025. Choose it for a lower-stakes fantasy watch focused on food and journeys rather than a conventional battle-first premise.
Rank #4
A spin-off and a new feature
Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class
This Gintama spin-off shifts the characters into a school-comedy setting. Netflix Japan listed it from October 7, 2025. Its connection to an established franchise may reward existing fans most, while the school premise signals a different setup from the main series.
To Your Eternity Season 3
Crunchyroll included this continuation of the fantasy drama in its Fall 2025 lineup. The available announcement summary does not establish a territory-specific release date, so check your local Crunchyroll catalog rather than assuming a date or worldwide availability.
Best Value
Fureru.
The film selection is Fureru., described by Netflix Japan as an original feature. The announcement lists exclusive streaming from October 5, 2025; that is a streaming date, not a theatrical opening date. Check local listings for its availability in your region.
How much does audience polling tell us?
A secondary guide reproduces a limited first-week poll attributed to Anime Trending: SPY×FAMILY Season 3 received 39.88% of votes, Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Part 2 received 35.64%, and One-Punch Man Season 3 received 30.34%. These are vote shares from that poll, not viewership figures, ratings, or quality scores. The guide points to a Reddit discussion, so treat the numbers as a narrow interest signal rather than a ranking of the whole season. The guide and its poll caveat provide the cited context.
