Mercedes Moné is AEW Women’s World Champion as of the latest official title-history and results information reviewed here. This ranking puts her first, then weighs recent championship position and title-scene activity alongside established title history. It is an editorial assessment—not an official AEW ranking—and reflects the information available through October 3, 2026.
How this ranking works
The clearest evidence for a wrestler’s current standing is involvement in the Women’s World Championship picture: holding the title, winning a recent reign, or earning a title opportunity. Championship history provides useful context, but it does not by itself establish who is in the strongest form today. AEW’s official Women’s Championship History and its October 3, 2026 Collision results support the top of the list most directly. The lower placements are more judgment-based because the reviewed sources do not provide a complete current win-loss comparison or an official ranking.
Fans could reasonably reorder places three through ten by prioritizing match results, championship record, character work, in-ring ability, or television prominence. The list below makes its basis explicit rather than treating subjective assessments as measured fact.
The 10 best current AEW women’s wrestlers
-
Mercedes Moné
Moné is the current Women’s World Champion in AEW’s title history. She won the championship from Willow Nightingale at All In: London on August 30, 2026, giving her the strongest documented claim to the top spot right now. The title history is the source for her championship status; no changing daily reign counter is used here.

-
Thekla
Thekla’s championship reign ran from February 11 to July 26, 2026, when Willow Nightingale defeated her. She remains central to the title picture: AEW’s September 26 All Out results headline announced a title match against Moné for WrestleDream. That combination of a recent reign and continued title-scene involvement puts her second.
-
Willow Nightingale
Nightingale defeated Thekla for the championship on July 26, 2026, then lost it to Moné at All In: London on August 30. Her 35-day reign was brief, but winning the title and holding it immediately before the current champion makes her one of the most strongly evidenced contenders in this snapshot.
Rank #2
-
Kris Statlander
Statlander held the Women’s World Championship from September 20, 2025, until February 11, 2026, when Thekla defeated her. That substantial recent title run supports a high placement, although the reviewed current results do not establish as direct a present-day title opportunity as they do for the three wrestlers above.
-
Queen Aminata
Aminata has the clearest fresh contender momentum outside the recent champions. On October 3, 2026, she defeated Julia Hart, and AEW reported that she earned a Women’s World Championship match against Moné. The result makes her a particularly strong current pick, even without a championship reign in the record cited here.

Jamie Hayter
Hayter is a former Women’s World Champion and was one of the challengers in the four-way match Statlander won for the title in 2025. Her championship history justifies a place among AEW’s leading women, but this evidence set offers less recent title-scene activity for her than for the five names above.
-
Hikaru Shida
Shida’s case rests on an exceptional championship legacy. AEW records her May 23, 2020–May 30, 2021 reign as the division’s record at 372 days. That history makes her an essential name on a list of AEW’s best, while the current results reviewed here provide limited evidence for ranking her higher today.

-
Megan Bayne
Bayne appears on a secondary AEW roster listing dated October 1, 2026. The reviewed official title history and results do not establish enough recent singles outcomes or title-scene activity to support a more performance-specific placement, so this is a reasoned inclusion rather than a claim of proven current momentum.
-
Athena
Athena is listed by the same secondary roster page as ROH Women’s Champion, which supports her status as a prominent wrestler in the broader AEW/ROH orbit. That is a different championship from AEW’s Women’s World Championship; she is not described here as its holder. Her placement reflects prominence, not a direct claim about AEW title contention.

-
Julia Hart
Hart makes the list as a featured participant in the latest dated result used here: she faced Aminata on October 3, 2026, and lost. One match cannot establish a broad measure of form, so the tenth-place spot is an editorial inclusion based on current visibility rather than a conclusion about her overall ability.
What the championship record adds
AEW’s title history offers a useful measure of championship achievement, but reign length is not a complete measure of current quality or momentum. Among the figures published there, Shida’s 372-day reign from May 23, 2020, to May 30, 2021, is the record; Toni Storm’s February 15–September 20, 2025 reign lasted 217 days; Thekla’s February 11–July 26, 2026 reign lasted 165 days; and Nightingale’s July 26–August 30, 2026 reign lasted 35 days. These are AEW’s documented title-history durations, not a current-stat comparison or a ranking method on their own.
How current is this list?
“Current” is a dated snapshot, not a guarantee about roster or medical availability. The ranking uses AEW’s title-history page for the champion and its October 3 Collision results for the latest specific contender development cited here. A secondary roster page dated October 1 labels some wrestlers’ availability, but those labels are not an AEW medical announcement and do not settle availability; no injury claim is made in this ranking. Because titleholders and storylines can change quickly, the order is best read as applying to the October 2026 snapshot rather than as a permanent roster verdict.
Sources: AEW’s Women’s Championship History, Collision results for October 3, 2026, and Fightful’s roster listing dated October 1, 2026. AEW’s official roster is also available, but the title history is the basis used here for championship status.
