Later coverage suggests it may be a Sea-Dweller Deepsea, but the exact model and the workshop behind its finish have not been confirmed. Beckham’s custom Tudor Pelagos is a separate reported sighting associated with Inter Miami—not a second watch from that 2012 game.
What Rolex did David Beckham wear courtside?
Time+Tide reported that Beckham and Victoria Beckham attended Game Two of the 2012 Western Conference quarterfinals between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center in Los Angeles on May 1, 2012. The watch Beckham wore was described as a custom blacked-out Rolex Sea-Dweller. Time+Tide’s report is the basis for the event and broad model identification.
A later Time+Tide collection article identifies the watch more specifically as a Sea-Dweller Deepsea and suggests it could be reference 116660. That narrower identification is not confirmed by a legible reference photo or Rolex documentation, so “black-coated Sea-Dweller” is the safest description; “possibly a Deepsea” is a reasonable qualification.
Was the black finish a factory Rolex option?
The coverage describes the watch’s dark treatment as aftermarket DLC or PVD coating, which gives the case and bracelet a less reflective appearance. It is not presented as a factory Rolex colorway. No workshop records or service documentation for Beckham’s individual watch are provided, so the coating type itself should also be treated as a reported description rather than independently verified technical detail.

Later coverage raises Bamford Watch Department as a possible modifier, but does not confirm its involvement. The available reporting does not establish who did the work; attributing it definitively to Bamford, Pro Hunter or another workshop would go beyond the evidence. Time+Tide’s later account explicitly leaves that attribution uncertain.
Where does the custom Tudor Pelagos fit?
Time+Tide has also reported Beckham wearing a custom Tudor Pelagos associated with Inter Miami. That is a separate appearance in the broader story of Beckham’s watches, not evidence that he wore a Pelagos at the 2012 Lakers–Nuggets game. The report names the Pelagos but does not establish the exact customized variant or its reference.

The same article gives general Pelagos context, including a 42mm case, titanium construction, ceramic bezel, adjustable clasp and 500m water resistance. Those details describe the model context in that report; they should not be assumed to specify Beckham’s custom example without a confirmed variant. Read the report.
What Tudor’s official material confirms
Tudor’s official account documents Beckham and freediver Morgan Bourc’his wearing Pelagos watches during Beckham’s first open-water freedive. For the featured Pelagos, Tudor lists a titanium case and bracelet, a patented auto-adjusting clasp, COSC certification, a helium escape valve, luminous display and 70-hour power reserve. Tudor states that the watch is water-resistant to 500m and factory-tested to 625m; it also says the titanium is 40% lighter than stainless steel. These are brand-published specifications for the featured freedive watch, not proof of the configuration of the separate Inter Miami-associated custom Pelagos. Tudor’s freediving account provides that model context.

Tudor’s 2019 Beckham material describes him as a longtime watch enthusiast and shows him wearing Black Bay S&G and Black Bay Chrono watches in the context of the brand relationship. It establishes the partnership backdrop, but does not identify the Sea-Dweller or the Inter Miami Pelagos. Tudor’s press material.
