Spoilers for all six episodes of Territory Season 1. Emily does not shoot Daniel dead: she fires a warning shot, hits his horse, and Daniel is later killed by wild dogs after being left stranded. The reveal also shows Daniel was working with Sandra on a deal for control of Marianne, with Emily involved. The final scene points to a possible challenge to Emily and Graham’s new authority, but leaves its meaning unresolved.

Who caused Daniel’s death?

Emily fired at Daniel during a confrontation, but the bullet struck his horse rather than him. Without the horse, Daniel was stranded in the wilderness and was later attacked and killed by wild dogs. That distinction matters: Emily knowingly fired the shot, but it did not directly kill Daniel.

Netflix Tudum’s finale explainer describes the sequence. It supports saying Emily’s shot left Daniel exposed; it does not establish that she intended the wild dogs to kill him.

What Daniel’s deal with Sandra reveals

Daniel was not simply an uninvolved heir whose death creates a succession crisis. He had planned a deal with Sandra for control of Marianne, and Emily was involved. The revelation recasts the family’s struggle: Daniel had been part of the maneuvering over the station before his death.

The official account establishes their involvement in the deal, but it does not settle every character’s motive or how far Emily expected events to go. Those conclusions remain interpretation, not confirmed details.

What Colin’s keys mean for Emily and Graham

Near the end, Colin gives Emily and Graham the keys to the main house. The gesture reads as a handoff of authority—or at least an immediate show of confidence in them. The scene does not prove that their position is secure or that control of Marianne is settled for good.

Why Elton brings the horse and two bullets

Elton arrives with Daniel’s horse and places two bullets in Colin’s hand. The scene makes the horse and bullets a warning, evidence, or both; it does not identify who fired the bullets or confirm what Colin understands from the gesture. Netflix Tudum writer Jean Bentley leaves the question open: “Does Colin know what this means? And will it change anything?”

So the last scene is a cliffhanger, not a second solved reveal. Colin may recognize what the items imply, but the episode does not show what he concludes or whether Emily and Graham’s authority will be challenged.

How the reveal fits the season

Territory is a 2024 TV-MA series with six episodes, according to Netflix’s series page. Its episode summaries set up a succession struggle after Daniel’s absence, followed by Sandra’s proposals, questions raised by Daniel’s saddle, a cattle muster, sabotage, and a dangerous shootout. That context helps explain why the final handoff and the items Elton brings carry weight, without resolving the cliffhanger.
