The order followed a temporary order issued in June. Claims about Wagner’s visits and statements came from Swift’s court declaration as described by news outlets; they should not be read as independent findings that every allegation was proven. The proceeding was civil, not a criminal conviction.
What happened in the case?
Swift filed a declaration in Los Angeles County Superior Court on June 6, 2025, according to the Los Angeles Times. A temporary restraining order was granted three days later. In September, the Times reported that the court issued a five-year order against Wagner. He did not appear at the hearing that resulted in the longer order, the Times said.
The reports describe a civil restraining-order proceeding. They do not report that Wagner was criminally convicted in this case.
What did Swift allege?
As reported by The Guardian, Swift’s declaration said Wagner allegedly began visiting her Los Angeles home in July 2024 and continued through May 2025. Swift said he made claims about living at the property, being in a relationship with her, and believing she was the mother of his son. The Guardian reproduced her declaration’s characterization of those claims as untrue and disconnected from reality.

The Independent reported that Swift’s declaration also said Wagner sent her staff hundreds of emails she described as concerning and threatening, attempted to divert mail, and changed his driver’s-license address to her Los Angeles home. The filing, as reported by The Independent, said Swift had never met or spoken with him.
The Guardian reported that Swift described one visit involving a glass bottle that “could have been used as a weapon” and said she feared for her own safety and her family’s. That is an account of her allegation and fear, not a report that a weapon was used.

How did the temporary and five-year orders differ?
The June order and September order were separate stages of the case. The June reports described temporary restrictions; the Times reported the terms of the later five-year order separately.
| Date and status | Duration | Reported terms |
|---|---|---|
| June 9, 2025, temporary order | Temporary; a further hearing was scheduled for June 30, according to June reporting | The Guardian reported a 100-yard stay-away restriction. Scripps News described the order as prohibiting harassment, stalking, assault, or disturbing Swift and requiring Wagner to stay away from her home, vehicle, and workplace. The Guardian · Scripps News |
| September 2025, five-year order | Five years, as reported by the Los Angeles Times | The Times reported that Wagner was barred from contacting Swift and ordered to stay away from her homes, vehicles, and workplaces. It also reported restrictions on his owning firearms or body armor. Los Angeles Times |
The June 100-yard detail belongs to reporting on the temporary order; the Times’s account of the September order describes its terms differently. The available reports do not establish that the two orders had identical wording.
