AAA Aardvark Getdown Services was a disco-funk side project featuring Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker—not another name for Tame Impala. Its best-documented performance was a 22 February 2014 set at Festival Gardens in Perth, where contemporary coverage described a loose, rough-edged four-piece.
Who were AAA Aardvark Getdown Services?
The name referred to a live project built around Parker and disco-funk material. PerthNow reported that Parker played drums and vocal samples, Cam Avery played bass, and Ben Witt of The Chemist played guitar. The article called the act a four-piece but did not identify the fourth performer in the passage naming those musicians, so the complete lineup is not established by that account.

Where and when did they perform?
The clearest documented appearance under the AAA Aardvark Getdown Services billing took place on 22 February 2014 at Festival Gardens, as part of a Spinning Top showcase during the Perth International Arts Festival. PerthNow’s report, published the following day, also mentions Pond, Felicity Groom, and The Silents on the showcase bill. It framed the event as a celebration of Spinning Top’s local scene and a prospective Warner Music Australia deal; that context does not establish that AAA Aardvark itself signed a deal.
What did the project sound like?
PerthNow characterized the performance as disco-funk, loose and somewhat rough around the edges. The reviewer compared its musical territory with the contemporary disco-funk revival associated with Daft Punk and Chic’s Nile Rodgers, and heard an affinity with Blondie’s slower disco pop. Those are the reporter’s descriptions, not a formal genre statement from the musicians.

What other names were associated with the performances?
Contemporary reports connect related low-key performances with several playful names: “Cam Cam and Kevin’s Groovy Groovy Funtime Disco Funk Elevator Explosion,” “Kevin Spacey In An Elevator,” and “Golden Triangle Municipal Funk Band.” The Future Heart also reported performances under the latter two names. The accounts support treating these as aliases used around related gigs, not proof of one formally constituted band operating continuously under changing names.
How does “Daffodils” connect to the project?
The Future Heart reported that an early version of “Daffodils” was played at an earlier performance under a different alias. Later artist-reference coverage connects Kevin Parker’s “Daffodils” to Mark Ronson’s Uptown Special. That makes the song part of the creative trail surrounding Parker’s disco-funk material, but it does not mean AAA Aardvark Getdown Services released the track or had an album of its own.

Jay Watson was quoted by Mandatory as telling The West Australian: “Kevin’s been writing all these disco, Michael Jackson megahits that he wouldn’t use for Tame because he’d be too sheepish about it but I’m trying to convince him to because they’re all next-level Thriller-pop.” This is an attribution chain reported by Mandatory; the original West Australian interview was not directly reviewed here.

PerthNow left open whether the project would perform again, continue under a different name, or record its songs. The available reporting does not document a formal release or a continuation under the AAA Aardvark name, and it does not establish the project’s current status. Uptown Special is a related Mark Ronson album connection, not an AAA Aardvark release.
