What Shavo Odadjian said about changing the setlist
In a 2025 interview with SNSMix, Odadjian said the band would rehearse a broad selection of songs and mix them between concerts so fans attending more than one show would hear different material. The account by Igor Miranda.com.br attributes the remarks to the interview and a Loudwire transcription; Wikimetal also reported that the band planned to vary the set for each confirmed date.
In Igor Miranda.com.br’s Portuguese rendering, Odadjian said the band would likely change the setlist considerably from one performance to another, rehearse extensively, and alternate songs rather than repeatedly play the same selection. The rendering is a translated and transcribed report, not an independently verified English-language transcript, so its wording should not be treated as a verbatim English quote.
How many songs and how long were the planned shows?
Odadjian’s reported estimate was 27 to 30 songs in a set lasting about two hours, drawn from a catalog he described as containing more than 70 songs. The figures describe the band’s stated plan; they do not establish the length or song count of each concert that ultimately took place.

For context, Wikimetal lists a 25-song System of a Down performance at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park in August 2024. That earlier show offers a point of reference for the band’s live repertoire, but it was not a forecast or record of the Brazil setlists.
Which Brazil concerts did the tease refer to?
The announcement concerned five concerts in May 2025, across Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Igor Miranda.com.br and Wikimetal reported these dates and venues:

Wikimetal described the run as the band’s first Brazil visit in ten years. Billboard Brasil reported that the Curitiba concert took place on May 6 and drew “quase 40 mil pessoas” — almost 40,000 attendees — while identifying Odadjian as the bassist.

The available reporting establishes what Odadjian said the band intended to do, but it does not provide a complete final-setlist comparison across all five Brazil dates. It is therefore not possible from these accounts alone to confirm how much the sets differed or whether the planned song count and duration were met.

A separate Rio de Janeiro concert listed for January 15, 2027 is not one of the five May 2025 dates and does not change the meaning of Odadjian’s earlier comments. That listing appears on setlist.fm; event listings can change.
