At a Samsung technology event in Paris on July 10, 2024, actor Sydney Sweeney was shown an AI-generated 3D portrait inspired by her face. She responded positively, saying, “Awww, I love it!” and “It’s amazing you can take an image like this,” according to a report by Victor Tangermann for Futurism.
What happened at Samsung’s Paris event?
During a presentation on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Samsung marketing executive Annika Bizon addressed Sweeney, who was in the audience. Bizon said, “Now I think we’ve got the actor Sydney Sweeney in the audience today.” Sweeney replied, “Hiii, I’m over here.”
Bizon then showed an AI-generated 3D image inspired by Sweeney’s face. Futurism described the portrait as cartoonish and said it did not closely resemble her.
What did Sydney Sweeney say about the portrait?
Futurism reports that Sweeney said, “Awww, I love it!” and added, “It’s amazing you can take an image like this.” The report is the source for the event details and quoted exchange; no official event transcript is identified to independently confirm the exact wording.
Was Sweeney uncomfortable?
Futurism’s headline and commentary interpret Sweeney’s expression as discomfort, and the report also cites social media users who thought she looked uncomfortable or not entirely genuine. Those are observers’ impressions, not statements from Sweeney confirming how she felt. Her reported spoken response was enthusiastic, but it does not establish her private feelings either.
What is known about Samsung’s portrait feature?
The report describes a feature that lets users “reimagine your portraits” by choosing a style. It does not provide a formal feature name, identify the device used in the demonstration, or give supported models, settings, privacy details, price, or technical performance. The event account therefore does not establish which Samsung phone or device a reader would need to create a similar image.
