Swifties for Kamala welcomed Taylor Swift’s September 10, 2024, endorsement of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. The fan-led coalition was already organizing before Swift spoke, however, and it says it is not affiliated with her. Its reaction should not be treated as the view of every Taylor Swift fan.
What Taylor Swift said
After the presidential debate between Harris and Donald Trump on September 10, 2024, Swift posted on Instagram that she would vote for Harris and Walz. She also urged people to register and vote. Swift said she was clarifying her choice after an AI-generated image falsely portrayed her as endorsing Trump, according to ABC News.

In the statement, Swift described Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader.” Explaining her decision, she wrote, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” and, “I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.” Those are Swift’s political views, as reported by TIME.
How Swifties for Kamala responded
The coalition celebrated the endorsement. It published a response on its newsroom page titled “Swifties Never Doubted,” while contemporaneous coverage by The Washington Post described the group as “thrilled.” The available accounts document the coalition’s reaction, not a shared position among Swift’s much broader and diverse fan base.

The coalition was organizing before Swift’s endorsement
Swifties for Kamala describes itself as a coalition of Taylor Swift fans working to elect progressive candidates. Its website says the group and its creators are not affiliated with Swift; the name alone does not mean she founded, endorsed, or directs it. See the coalition’s About Us page and website.
The timeline makes the distinction clear. In August 2024, before Swift’s endorsement, the coalition held a virtual rally that raised more than $138,000 for the Democratic candidate, according to The Guardian. The newspaper also reported that Swift was unaffiliated with the group and organizers were not waiting for her endorsement. Swifties for Kamala was an existing fan-led political effort that welcomed her later statement.

What the reported Vote.gov traffic does—and does not—show
After Swift shared a link to Vote.gov in an Instagram Story, Axios reported about 338,000 visits to the site in 15 hours. That is a count of visits, not a count of people who registered, completed a registration, or voted. The figure shows attention to the link; it does not establish how many people took a subsequent action or whether the endorsement changed votes or the election outcome. Axios reported the traffic figure.
