How much does the Survivor winner get?
CBS’s Survivor 51 about page describes a $1 million grand prize. That is a one-time award for the winner, not a recurring wage or salary.
Survivor 50 had a special $2 million prize
For Survivor 50, Paramount’s official May 20, 2026 announcement said the winner received $2 million and a new Toyota Land Cruiser. That was the announced award for that season; it should not be mistaken for the standard prize. The announcement also said the finale was available to stream on Paramount+.

Do contestants who lose get paid?
Former contestants have said players receive compensation tied to how far they finish. The detailed figures that have been publicly reported, however, are personal estimates and recollections—not an official CBS payment table.

Figures Kelley Wentworth attributed to the Old Era
Three-time player Kelley Wentworth described approximate Old Era amounts in comments reported by EntertainmentNow in 2025. She said first boot could receive about $2,500, jury members at least $20,000, a 10th-place finish probably $20,000–$25,000, and fourth place about $65,000. Wentworth described her own fourth-place payment by saying, “Fourth place on ‘Survivor’ pays about $65,000.” These are her approximations, not guaranteed amounts for every season or contestant. EntertainmentNow’s report relayed her account.
Andrea Boehlke’s earlier-season recollection
Andrea Boehlke said she may have received about $60,000 after finishing fifth in her first season. As reported by EntertainmentNow in 2026, she could not recall the exact figure, and the example came from an earlier incarnation of the show. Read the report of Boehlke’s recollection.

What is known about pay in the current New Era?
The published player accounts do not establish current New Era rates. Wentworth said she did not know whether compensation had changed. CBS’s 2019 eligibility document states a $1 million prize but does not provide a payment scale for contestants who are eliminated. It also describes a commitment of approximately seven weeks in a remote location; that is historical document wording, not confirmation of the current season’s duration.
So the clearest answer to “How much do Survivor contestants get paid if they lose?” is that former players report placement-based compensation, with some Old Era examples ranging from about $2,500 for first boot to about $65,000 for fourth place. There is no public, official current New Era schedule in these sources, and the reported examples should not be used to calculate or predict a contestant’s payment today.
