Movie-related domains pointing to a Super Mario Galaxy sequel were reported in September 2025, months before Nintendo confirmed the film’s title. But the available public WHOIS record does not prove that Universal Pictures was the direct registrant. Nintendo later officially announced The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and said Universal Pictures would release it worldwide.
What the domain registration did—and did not—show
On September 12, 2025, SpazioGames reported that NBCUniversal had registered supermariogalaxy.movie and localized domains, including supermariogalaxy-lefilm.com and supermariogalaxy-lapelicula.com. The outlet treated the names as clues to the sequel’s likely title, not as an official title announcement. SpazioGames’ report is secondary reporting; the registrations were not themselves a corporate confirmation.

The public Whois.com record for the French-language domain reports a registration date of September 9, 2025, MarkMonitor as registrar, and NBCUniversal nameservers from ns1.nbcuni.com through ns6.nbcuni.com. Its registrant contact field says “Domain Administrator” and identifies DNStination Inc. It therefore supports an association with NBCUniversal infrastructure, but does not establish the ultimate beneficial registrant or prove Universal Pictures itself registered the domain.
When the title became official
On December 3, 2025, Nintendo announced The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the exact official title, and described it as an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. Nintendo said Universal Pictures would release the movie worldwide in April 2026. That announcement confirmed the film’s title and distributor; it did not retroactively turn the earlier domain records into proof of who registered them. Read Nintendo’s announcement.
