7NEWS reported on 24 February 2024 that Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac and Rebecca James were expecting their second child. Mac’s post gave August 2024 as the expected arrival month. He called the announcement “Baby Mac” (the sequel), adding that their first daughter, Margot, would be “the big sister.” 7NEWS’s February 2024 report reproduced his wording; a separate 7NEWS report also covered the announcement.

The 2024 news is no longer the latest chapter in the family timeline. On 4 March 2026, Mac announced live on Sunrise that James was 20 weeks pregnant with their third child, expected in July. 7NEWS quoted him saying: “I wanted to share some personal news. I haven’t told anyone except the person who had to have a photo ready for this, but Bec is pregnant. We are expecting baby number three.” He also said they would not learn the baby’s sex before birth, as they had not with Margot and Mabel. 7NEWS reported the announcement.

A report published by New Idea on 24 July 2026 said the couple’s son, Miles Samuel McMillan, had arrived. The outlet attributed the birth announcement to Mac’s Instagram post and quoted him welcoming Miles and saying James was recovering well. New Idea’s report is the cited source for the third child’s birth and name.
Are Sam Mac and Rebecca James married?
The headline’s use of “wife” is not supported by the consulted reports. Coverage of the 2024 announcement described James as Mac’s partner; a 2026 report called her his fiancée. New Idea reported in July 2026 that they were planning a wedding in South Australia before Christmas, but the exact date was not public. The cited coverage does not confirm that they married. 7NEWS’s 2024 report and the 2026 coverage use the relationship descriptions noted above.
