Scott Swift underwent quintuple bypass surgery in 2025, according to a July report citing a source close to the Swift family. Taylor Swift later said her father was doing very well, but those comments date to August and October 2025. They do not confirm his health today.
What surgery did Scott Swift have?
ABC News reported on July 16, 2025, that Scott Swift had undergone a successful quintuple bypass more than a month earlier. The outlet attributed the procedure and timing to a source close to the family; it was not an independently verified medical account. ABC reported that Swift was 73 at the time. Quintuple bypass refers to coronary artery bypass grafting involving five bypasses. ABC News describes bypass surgery, citing the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, as using healthy blood vessels from elsewhere in the body to route blood around blocked arteries and improve blood flow. Is Scott Swift currently recovering?
The reports and public comments cited here establish that he had surgery in 2025 and that Taylor Swift described him as doing well in August and October of that year. They do not establish his health status as of October 8, 2026. A current-status claim would require a newer attributable update.
