Tara Reid was taken to a hospital after paramedics responded to a sick-person call at a hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, just after midnight on Nov. 23, 2025. Reid’s representative later said she believed her drink had been tampered with. Police said hotel surveillance did not show anyone altering the drink; later reporting said the case was closed without new evidence. The available reporting does not establish what caused Reid’s condition.
What happened at the Rosemont hotel
Rosemont police and paramedics responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 23, 2025, to a sick-person call at the DoubleTree Hotel, 5460 River Road. Police said Reid was taken to an area hospital. CBS Chicago reported that she filed an online police report on Nov. 25.
On Nov. 24, Reid’s representative told Us Weekly that Reid believed her drink had been tampered with, was cooperating with the investigation, was recovering and wanted privacy. The representative said: “Tara Reid is trying to file a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with. She is cooperating fully with the investigation.”
Us Weekly also attributed to a source the account that Reid had left a glass of wine at the bar while going outside. That detail was not independently established in the reported police findings.

What police said the surveillance showed
On Dec. 3, Rosemont police said their review of hotel surveillance showed Reid at the bar, but did not show anyone tampering with or adding anything to her drink. Police said a bartender covered the drink, describing that as standard practice. The department’s statement, quoted by CBS Chicago, said: “While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities.”
At that point, police said they were awaiting hospital records and could not confirm what specific chemical testing had been conducted. They described the investigation as open and active. The absence of visible tampering in the footage is not proof of what caused Reid’s illness.

What later reporting said about the case and medical testing
On Dec. 17, TMZ reported, citing Rosemont police, that the case had been closed after no new evidence came to light. TMZ also reported that doctors had not performed chemical tests, meaning it was not known what, if anything, was in Reid’s system. Those are updates attributed to TMZ’s reporting, not a direct review here of police or hospital records.

The available accounts do not establish that Reid’s drink was spiked, nor do they establish that it was not. Reid’s belief was conveyed by her representative; police said surveillance showed no tampering, and the later account said chemical tests had not been performed.
