The report documented those listings at that time; it does not establish whether the shirts are still available.
Was the man in the viral photo really the Trump shooter?
No. Gizmodo reported that a man whose image circulated online after the shooting was falsely identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old gunman. The report said the man used the X handle @jewgazing and joked about resembling Crooks. It did not establish his legal name, and it gave no indication that he was a suspect or had any role in the shooting.
The confusion unfolded after the July 13, 2024, attack at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. A post cited by Gizmodo on July 14 said the viral image did not show Crooks. The report distinguished that circulating image from a yearbook photo of the actual Crooks that The Washington Post had obtained. Gizmodo also described a video that began with the false identification and later indicated that the man pictured was not the shooter.

That is a record of the sellers named in the 2024 report, not a current product comparison or confirmation of their present inventory. The report did not establish prices, product quality, or whether any specific listing remains live.
Are the shirts still for sale?
The available report does not answer that question. It describes listings observed when Gizmodo published its article on July 15, 2024; without verified current seller pages, their availability today cannot be confirmed.

What did the report say about image rights?
Gizmodo raised a separate issue involving merchandise that used a widely circulated photograph of the shooting by Associated Press photographer Evan Vucci. AP vice president of corporate communications Lauren Easton told ABC News: “The Associated Press is proud of Evan Vucci’s photo and recognizes its impact. In addition, we reserve our rights to this powerful image.” That statement expresses AP’s position concerning Vucci’s photograph; it is not a court ruling and does not determine the rights status of shirts bearing the misidentified man’s image.
