SRF Eurovision delegation head Yves Schifferle said that 22 of the 37 participating countries awarded Switzerland 12 points. That statement describes the number of maximum country scores, not Switzerland’s total points. A total score and complete jury-versus-televote breakdown are not established by the sources cited here.
What is “The Code” about?
Nemo described the song as a reflection on realizing they were neither a man nor a woman and the long, often difficult process of finding themselves. In English: “In ‘The Code,’ it is about the journey I began with the realization that I am neither a man nor a woman. The path to myself was long and often difficult for me.”
#1 Best Overall
SRF described Nemo as a nonbinary artist born in 1999 in Biel, Switzerland. Before the contest, Nemo also spoke about representing Switzerland as a genderqueer person and standing up for the LGBTQIA+ community, describing Eurovision as a platform for building bridges across cultures and generations.
How does the song sound, and who wrote it?
“The Code” moves between rap, drum ’n’ bass and opera, a combination SRF highlighted in its coverage. The song was written at a 2023 Eurovision songwriting camp organized by Suisa and Pele Loriano Productions. Its composers are Nemo, Lasse Nyman, Linda Dale and Benjamin Alasu.
Switzerland selected its entry through a multi-stage internal process involving an international public jury and an expert jury, with each weighted 50 percent, according to SRF.
