What last year’s rules can—and can’t—tell you
Starbucks’ 2025 announcement offered a free grande (16-ounce) cup at participating U.S. stores on November 13 after purchase of any size handcrafted holiday or fall beverage, hot, iced, or blended, while supplies lasted. It listed seasonal drinks and cold foams as eligible, excluded Starbucks Christmas Blend and Starbucks Reserve Christmas brewed coffee, and named café, drive-through, app, and delivery through DoorDash, Grubhub, or Uber Eats as ordering channels. These were 2025 terms, not confirmed 2026 rules. Starbucks’ 2025 announcement also described that year’s cup as made with 95 percent recycled material; no 2026 material specification has been announced.
Can you use a personal reusable cup?
Starbucks’ FY2023 Global Impact Report says that beginning in 2024, customers in all Starbucks stores across the U.S. and Canada could use personal reusable cups for orders in café, drive-through, and mobile order and pay. That report does not establish every current local term or whether a particular channel will apply to the 2026 giveaway. Check local rules for reusable-cup service and any discount; bringing your own cup is not stated as a requirement to receive the Red Cup Day cup. Read the Starbucks FY2023 Global Impact Report.
