There is no confirmed live-action Star Wars project featuring Cal Kestis. A Lucasfilm representative was reported to say that “more Cal stories” are coming, but did not specify a format. Cameron Monaghan, who plays Cal in the Jedi games, has said he would consider a live-action role if it meaningfully continued the character or story. Neither statement confirms a project or casting.
What the report actually says
In May 2026, GamesRadar+ reported a comment given to GameRant by an unnamed Lucasfilm representative: “Never say never. We’ve got his lightsaber in the park. We’ve got more Cal stories coming.” PlayStation Universe also reported the comment. The representative did not name a film, series, release window, or medium. “More Cal stories” is the reported statement; a live-action appearance is an interpretation, not a confirmed outcome. Will Cameron Monaghan play Cal in live action?
Monaghan has expressed conditional interest, not confirmed casting. At a FanExpo Vancouver panel in 2024, he said a live-action role would need to continue Cal’s story or character in a meaningful way. He added that he would not want Cal to appear merely to “stand around and be there,” and concluded that in the right context, he would be interested. His comments describe what he would want from a role; they do not establish that Lucasfilm has offered one or that a project is in development. The Direct; PlayStation Universe
Who is Cal Kestis?
Cal is the protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. StarWars.com describes him as a survivor of Order 66 who was trained by Jedi Master Jaro Tapal. After years hiding from the Empire and fighting back, he becomes a Jedi warrior. His Force abilities include psychometry: sensing echoes of an object’s past. StarWars.com: Cal Kestis
