Netflix published the trailer on Nov. 26, 2024, ahead of the season’s Dec. 26 premiere; all seven episodes are now streaming on Netflix.
What the Season 2 trailer sets up
Netflix’s trailer frames the return around Player 456, the name Gi-hun carried in the first competition. The official synopsis places him three years after his Season 1 win: he turns away from going to the United States and returns to the life-or-death contest with a new resolution. This time, Netflix says, his goal is to end the competition.
That mission puts him back among new participants competing for 45.6 billion won. The trailer’s official tagline is “Let the new games begin.” Read alongside the synopsis, it signals the return of the contest while setting up a conflict between Gi-hun’s intention to stop it and the game’s continuation.
Trailer date, teaser date and season premiere
The promotional dates refer to different events: Netflix announced the main teaser’s debut at Lucca Comics & Games on Oct. 31, 2024, while the Season 2 trailer page appeared on Netflix Tudum on Nov. 26. The season itself premiered on Netflix on Dec. 26, 2024.
