What is Spotify Audiobooks+?
Audiobooks+ is Spotify’s add-on for listeners who want more audiobook listening time. It supplements the access available through eligible Spotify plans; it is not a separate audiobook player or a physical product. Spotify says any listener may add Audiobooks+ in designated markets, but local availability and pricing vary. Spotify’s October 7, 2026 announcement does not provide a complete country-by-country price or entitlement table.

The word “new” needs context. Spotify had already introduced recurring Audiobooks+ add-ons in 2025. Its Q2 2026 report said new tiers were planned, but neither that report nor the October announcement specifies the new tiers’ names, prices, monthly hours or launch dates. The announcement is best understood as a major expansion of audiobook access and access routes, not the first launch of Audiobooks+.
How many audiobook hours do you get with Spotify Premium?
There is no single global allowance. In the October 2026 announcement, Spotify says eligible Premium subscribers in designated markets receive 12 audiobook hours per month. The announcement does not identify every qualifying plan or market in a complete matrix, so check the local Spotify offer for your country and plan.

Earlier terms were different. In July 2025, Spotify described 15 monthly add-on hours for eligible Premium Individual subscribers and managers of Family and Duo plans. It also described add-on access for Family and Duo members, with a separate one-time 10-hour top-up option for those members. Those were terms in the 2025 announcement, not a universal statement of current entitlements. Spotify’s July 2025 announcement listed the offer and launch markets at that time.
How can you access audiobooks on Spotify?
Spotify describes three routes in the markets covered by its expansion. Which ones you can use depends on where you live and your subscription plan.

Spotify’s announcement does not establish a universal price for Audiobooks+ or a complete list of which Premium plans receive included hours. Compare the local offer rather than assuming that a price, hour allowance or Family-plan entitlement in one country applies elsewhere.
Can Spotify Family members get Audiobooks+?
Spotify’s July 2025 announcement described add-on access for Family and Duo plan members, alongside a different add-on arrangement for plan managers. It also listed a one-time 10-hour top-up for those members. These dated terms do not establish that every Family or Duo member can currently add Audiobooks+ in every market. Check the offer shown for your country and account before subscribing.

How much does Audiobooks+ cost?
Spotify says pricing varies by market, and its October 2026 announcement does not give a global price or new-tier price list. The amount you see locally is the relevant one; do not rely on a price quoted for a different country or on older launch terms. The same applies to whether the charge is recurring or a one-time top-up.
Is Audiobooks+ available in your country?
Spotify says audiobook access is expanding from 22 markets to more than 180 by the end of 2026. It expects more than 750 million people to be able to stream or purchase books on Spotify. The rollout is scheduled over time, so the end-of-2026 target does not mean every listed market already has access on October 7, 2026.
Spotify identifies Audiobooks+ as the primary access route in markets across Africa, Asia and Argentina. It also scheduled Student-plan availability for November 2026 in Ireland, Belgium, Austria and Finland, with additional markets planned in the following year. Because rollout timing and local offers can change, verify current availability in Spotify’s market expansion announcement and the local Spotify app or help pages.
For historical context, the July 2025 add-on announcement covered the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It followed earlier trials in Ireland and Canada and said the U.S. options were scheduled for August 5, 2025. That is a record of the 2025 rollout, not a current global availability list.

What is included in the audiobook expansion?
Spotify says the newly covered markets will have more than 350,000 titles, with more than 120 languages represented across the expanded catalog. Those are company-reported catalog figures; the announcement does not mean every title or language will be available in every country.
The company also reports that monthly audiobook listeners grew nearly 40% over the past year and listening hours rose more than 30%. Spotify says Page Match, which connects a reader’s place in a print book with the corresponding audiobook position, had been used by more than one million readers since February. These are Spotify-reported figures, not independently verified measurements.
Spotify VP of Audiobooks Owen Smith said: “For a lot of people, audiobooks are how they find their way back to reading, on the commute, on a walk, or at the end of a long day.”
How many Audiobooks+ subscribers does Spotify have?
Spotify’s Q2 2026 report says Audiobooks+ had 1.5 million subscribers. Its October 7, 2026 announcement instead says more than one million subscribers and reports more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Spotify does not explain the difference between the subscriber figures or specify the measurement dates in a way that reconciles them, so they should not be treated as a directly comparable trend.
