Spotify announced a Premium price update for subscribers in the United States on January 15, 2026. Its current US pricing page lists Premium Individual at $12.99 per month, while the amount and timing applied to an existing account depend on the notice Spotify sends and that account’s billing date.
How much does Spotify Premium cost in the US now?
Spotify’s US pricing page lists these monthly prices, checked October 8, 2026:

These are the current listed US prices, not a statement of what every existing subscriber is already being charged. Check Spotify’s US Premium pricing page for any later changes to prices, offers, or plan terms.
What changed in the January 2026 increase?
Spotify’s January 15, 2026 newsroom announcement said Premium prices were being updated in the US, Estonia, and Latvia. It said subscribers would receive an email over the following month explaining how the update affected their subscriptions. The announcement did not list old and new US prices for every plan.

TechCrunch reported that US Premium Individual increased from $11.99 to $12.99 per month. Its report also placed that change in a sequence of earlier Individual price increases: $9.99 before the 2023 increase, $10.99 after it, and $11.99 after the 2024 increase. Those historical figures are TechCrunch’s reporting, not a plan-by-plan price history in Spotify’s announcement. TechCrunch’s January 15, 2026 report covers the Individual-plan change.
When will the new price reach my account?
Spotify Support says an affected subscriber receives an email stating the new price and has one month to cancel before that price applies. The exact billing date varies by subscriber; check the account page to see your next charge date. Spotify says trial subscribers pay the original price for one month after the trial ends, then the new plan price applies.

Because billing dates differ, the January 15 announcement date alone does not tell you when your account will be charged at the updated rate. The relevant details are in Spotify’s notice and account billing information. See Spotify Support’s price-update guidance.
How can I avoid the higher Premium bill?
Spotify says you can cancel at any time. To avoid the next charge, cancel before your next billing date; Spotify’s stated one-month window is the period to cancel before the new price applies. Spotify also points subscribers to check whether they qualify for another paid plan, or to switch to its free, ad-supported service. Support says the free service keeps access to saved tracks, playlists, and podcasts.

- Use Spotify Free: This avoids a Premium subscription charge, but it is ad-supported.
- Cancel: Use the account’s subscription controls before the next billing date if you do not want the next charge.
Can I redeem a Spotify gift card bought at the old price?
Yes. Spotify Support says a gift card bought at a lower price remains redeemable, but gift cards can be used only for Premium Individual. Spotify does not say that redeeming one locks future recurring subscription charges at the old monthly rate.

That is the company’s explanation, not independent evidence about the specific costs or factors behind the increase.
