The man Steve Harvey said he liked was Michael B. Jordan, who dated Harvey’s daughter Lori in 2021. Harvey joked that he still had an eye on Jordan and kept a reserve of hostility in case Jordan hurt her—but he also called him a nice guy and later said he was rooting for the couple.
What Steve Harvey said about Michael B. Jordan
In January 2021, after Lori Harvey and Jordan had made their relationship public, Harvey spoke about the actor on The Steve Harvey Morning Show. “I like this one. I still got my eye on him,” he said, as reported by Vanity Fair.
Harvey framed his caution as a joke about a father’s protectiveness. He said he might approve of a boyfriend but keep “a thumb-size section” of his heart filled with “pure hatred” in case he needed it. The same report described Jordan as a “nice guy” in Harvey’s view. The punchline was not that Harvey already hated Jordan; it was that approval would not stop him from being ready to turn against someone who hurt Lori.
Why Harvey said he had tried not to like him
On The Ellen DeGeneres Show in March 2021, Harvey joked that he had tried not to like Jordan and had “got rid of” Lori’s previous boyfriends, according to E!. The report does not identify those former boyfriends or explain why Harvey disliked them, so they cannot reliably be assigned to a list of men he hated.

Harvey later said he was rooting for the couple
By September 2021, Harvey was describing Jordan more warmly. He told Entertainment Tonight that Jordan was sincere and kind and said he was rooting for the pair. These comments add context to the earlier joke: Harvey expressed both affection for Jordan and the protective skepticism he said he reserved for anyone dating his daughter.

The headline’s broad wording goes beyond what the reported comments establish. The documented story is about Lori and Jordan, alongside Harvey’s unnamed joke about Lori’s previous boyfriends. It does not show that Harvey disliked every man dated by all of his daughters, or that Jordan was the only exception across the family.

In 2024, Harvey discussed how he approached meeting his daughters’ potential partners, describing ways he assessed people, as reported by Us Weekly. Those comments concern his stated approach; they do not identify which men he had liked or disliked in the past. The 2021 coverage is historical and does not establish Lori Harvey’s or Jordan’s current relationship status.
