Spoilers for the released film: Aunt May is the named character who dies during the present-day events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Green Goblin’s attack proves fatal. The ending does not kill Peter or his friends: Peter chooses a spell that makes the world forget Peter Parker.
Who dies in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
Aunt May is the film’s central on-screen loss. After Green Goblin escapes, he attacks May; the screenplay later confirms that she has died. The film’s other references to major losses concern events from earlier Spider-Man stories, not new deaths in this one.
Which deaths are part of the backstory?
- Uncle Ben: The Raimi-universe Peter Parker refers to Ben’s earlier death. It happens before the events of No Way Home.
- Gwen Stacy: The Webb-universe Peter says he could not save Gwen. Her death is part of his past, not a death during this film.
Does Peter’s final spell kill anyone?
No. Peter asks Doctor Strange to cast a spell that makes everyone forget Peter Parker, stopping the multiverse from continuing to fracture. Peter remains alive; the loss is his identity and his connections to the people who knew him.
What happens to the multiversal villains?
The villains who arrive from other universes are not killed in the finale. Peter and the other Spider-Men cure them, and they are sent back to their worlds. That resolution is distinct from May’s death.

Does a leak reveal these deaths?
The title does not identify a specific leak by author, date, platform, or post. Historical fan discussions show that purported plot leaks circulated, but they do not establish that any particular claim was authentic or accurately predicted the finished film. The verifiable answer is the released story: May dies, while the other named losses are backstory and the final spell causes memory loss, not death.
Sony describes the 2021 film as a continuation of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, in which Peter turns to Doctor Strange after his secret identity is exposed and a spell brings in villains from other universes.
