Did the Beyond the Spider-Verse trailer leak?
TheWrap reported that a rough trailer appeared to have leaked online. GamesRadar+ reported that a trailer and about four minutes of footage were circulating on social media. Neither outlet independently authenticated the files in its reporting, so it is more accurate to describe this as reported circulation than as a verified leak of an official, finished trailer.
On August 14, 2026, TheWrap reported that Christopher Miller, a co-writer and producer of the film, responded on X: “Not a fan of leaks of unfinished, not fully rendered footage.” His statement objects to the circulation of unfinished material; it does not confirm the footage’s full contents or authenticate any particular file. TheWrap’s report and GamesRadar+’s account describe what each outlet reported.
Spoiler warning: what outlets say the footage shows
GamesRadar+ described footage that it said picks up after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Its account mentions Earth-42 Miles confronting an alternate version of Miles who is the Prowler, along with footage featuring Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, and Spider-Punk. Those are reported descriptions of the circulating material, not details confirmed in Sony’s official synopsis.

That reported setup may sound like a significant reveal, but the sources reviewed do not establish that it is a new major twist, show how the scenes fit into the finished film, or settle the ending. There is not enough verified information to say that the leak spoils the ending.
What Sony officially confirms about the story
Sony Pictures Animation’s official synopsis says Miles is hunted by Miguel O’Hara’s Spider Society and is searching for a way home after betrayal by his friends. His family is fractured and endangered, and he races across time and space to reunite what he holds dear. When does Beyond the Spider-Verse come out?
Sony Pictures Animation currently lists the theatrical release date as June 18, 2027. TheWrap also reported that date. Release dates can change, so Sony’s listing is the relevant current reference rather than a guarantee that the date will remain unchanged.
