The poolside confrontation turns a wider disagreement about missed plans, work, and friendship into the episode’s defining moment.
Why Craig and Austen’s friendship reaches a breaking point
The argument grows from competing expectations of closeness. Austen says he misses ordinary time with Craig, not just business or group events, and sees Craig’s lack of availability as distance. Craig’s position, as described in Reality Tea’s January 3, 2025 recap, is that his priorities and routine have changed. He tells Austen, “Our friendship will never look like it used to.”

Craig also frames the difference in their priorities directly: Austen’s focus is his social life, while Craig’s is work. That is Craig’s characterization of the divide, not an objective verdict on either man. Austen wants the friendship to include the everyday time they once shared; Craig does not promise a return to that version of it.
The ultimatum in the pool
After the disagreement, Craig tells Austen, “You can either swim or leave.” Austen walks away, and Craig gets into the pool. The image makes the argument unusually clear: Craig is willing to continue on his own terms, while Austen declines the invitation as it is offered.

#1 Best Overall
The episode does not settle whether either man’s expectations are fair. Instead, it shows the mismatch: Austen asks for more shared time, while Craig signals that the friendship has to fit a different life.
Patricia’s birthday puts Craig’s absence in view
At Patricia’s birthday gathering, cast members talk about Craig’s distance from the group and his growing attention to business. The conversation gives the later argument a broader context: Austen’s complaint is not only about one missed plan, but about a change that others have noticed too.

Episode title and source note
The supplied phrase “Swim or Leave” describes the confrontation at the center of this recap. Reality Tea’s January 3, 2025 article identifies Season 10, Episode 4 as “Sew Not Invited”; without an official episode guide or transcript to resolve the naming, this recap does not treat “Swim or Leave” as a confirmed official title. The dialogue quoted here is attributed to Craig by that secondary recap.
