Disney’s 2025 Snow White has a clear gap between its current Rotten Tomatoes scores: as of October 8, 2026, the film has a 39% Tomatometer from 277 critic reviews and a 69% verified-audience Popcornmeter from more than 2,500 ratings. But the score has not been shown to be rising: a March 22, 2025 report put the audience score at 71%. Those two snapshots show a difference between critics and audiences, not a sustained upward trend.
What the current Rotten Tomatoes scores show
Rotten Tomatoes’ film page lists a 39% Tomatometer and a 69% Popcornmeter for Disney’s Snow White. The critic score is based on 277 reviews; the audience score is based on more than 2,500 verified ratings. These are snapshots accessed October 8, 2026, and Rotten Tomatoes scores can change as reviews and ratings are added. Rotten Tomatoes’ film page is the current reference.

The 30-point difference is real, but the figures are not two versions of the same poll. Each uses a different contributor group and calculation, so the gap does not by itself explain why individual critics and viewers responded differently.
Did the audience score rise?
Not on the evidence of the available dated readings. CinemaBlend reported a 71% Rotten Tomatoes audience score on March 22, 2025; the current verified score is 69%. Two readings cannot establish the full path of a score, but they do not support the claim that it rose between those dates. CinemaBlend’s March 22, 2025 report is an early snapshot, not a score-history chart.

What the two Rotten Tomatoes scores measure
Tomatometer: the share of critic reviews marked Fresh
Rotten Tomatoes collects reviews from critics it has approved, labels each review Fresh or Rotten, and calculates the percentage marked Fresh. It is therefore a measure of how many counted reviews are positive by the site’s classification, not an average star rating. Rotten Tomatoes explains the method in its Tomatometer critics criteria update.
Popcornmeter: audience ratings, with a verified measure
Rotten Tomatoes says the first Audience Score shown on a movie page is made up of Verified Ratings. It describes verified users as people whose ticket purchase it can confirm; at the feature’s launch, verification matched a reviewer’s email with a ticket-provider account. The site also distinguishes that figure from a broader audience score that includes verified and non-verified ratings. So the film’s 69% should be described as its verified Popcornmeter, not as the percentage from every audience rating on the service. See Rotten Tomatoes’ explanation of Verified Ratings.
Why audience and critic reactions can diverge
The scores establish that critics’ reviews were less often classified as positive than verified audience ratings were, but they do not establish a cause. Rotten Tomatoes’ current critic consensus praises Rachel Zegler’s performance while criticizing aspects of the film’s handling of its source material and its stylistic choices. Its audience summary says the songs and spirit may appeal to some viewers. Those are the aggregator’s summaries, not a representative account of every critic or viewer. The film page contains both summaries.
The most careful reading is therefore about reception, not motive: the two groups produced different aggregate results, while the available figures do not show that one group changed its mind over time or explain why particular viewers liked or disliked the film.

Other opening-period indicators measure different things
Release-weekend figures add context but cannot be substituted for the Rotten Tomatoes scores. The Associated Press reported a $43 million domestic opening and an $87.3 million global launch, attributing the box-office figures to studio estimates. It also reported a B+ CinemaScore from audiences. These are opening-period indicators, not final measures of opinion or the same calculation as a verified Popcornmeter. The AP report was published March 23, 2025.
Disney UK reported that comScore gave the film four stars across audience demographics in the UK and Ireland opening period. Disney’s account also cited an 88% Total Positive score among children, rising to 94% among girls. These figures apply to that geography, period, survey and respondent group; they are not directly comparable with Rotten Tomatoes’ verified-rating percentage or CinemaScore.
