Marc Zuber’s career moved between the Royal Shakespeare Company, British television and film, and Hindi cinema. His most substantial screen role was the lead in Vinod Pande’s Yeh Nazdeekiyan (1982); his connection to Dracula came earlier, in a small role as a guard in the 1973 film The Satanic Rites of Dracula.
Who was Marc Zuber?
Zuber was born in Lucknow on May 5, 1944, and brought up in London. He began his career on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company, according to Manish Gaekwad’s 2016 Scroll.in feature. That theatre beginning gives the “Shakespeare” half of the career’s striking range; the “Dracula” half is a screen credit, not a starring role.

The available account offers selected highlights rather than a complete biography or filmography. It describes Zuber’s early work in the United Kingdom as a succession of small parts in stage, television and film.
From British screen parts to a Hindi-film lead
Yeh Nazdeekiyan was his first leading role
After more than a decade of smaller UK roles, Zuber took his first leading role in Vinod Pande’s Yeh Nazdeekiyan (1982), opposite Parveen Babi and Shabana Azmi. The film examined marital infidelity. Gaekwad identifies it as Zuber’s most prominent role.

Other Hindi-film appearances
Zuber also appeared in Kanoon Meri Mutthi Mein (1984), Aurat Pair Ki Juti Nahin Hai (1985) and Shingora (1986). In R.K. Nayyar’s Qatl (1986), he played the lover of Sarika’s character; Sanjeev Kumar played a blind man, whose wife is unfaithful.
What does “Dracula” refer to?
Zuber’s film debut was The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973), in which he played a guard. It was a small part, but a memorable contrast with the leading role he would later play in Hindi cinema. The title’s Dracula reference points to this credit, not to a major role in the film.

Selected British screen credits
Before his film debut, Zuber had a bit part as a radio operator in the television film A Kiss Is Just A Kiss (1971), followed by several minor television roles. Later appearances included Shirley Valentine (1989) and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991). Gaekwad qualifies the latter credit as an interrogator “in possibly the opening sequence,” so the exact placement is uncertain.
His last listed film role was Muhammad Iqbal in Jamil Dehlavi’s Jinnah. These credits show the variety of screen work associated with Zuber, but they should not be mistaken for a complete record of his career.

What is known about his life?
Gaekwad’s feature gives a limited account of Zuber beyond his birth in Lucknow, upbringing in London and acting career. It records that he died on May 28, 2003. The available source does not establish a fuller personal biography, so claims beyond those details should be treated cautiously.
