SIX is a pop-concert musical in which the six wives of Henry VIII take the stage to retell their stories in their own voices. Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss wrote the book, music and lyrics. It is a modern theatrical interpretation—not a documentary account or a scene-by-scene record of Tudor history.
What is the SIX musical about?
The show brings Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr together as performers. Accompanied by a band called the Ladies in Waiting, they use a contemporary pop-concert format to revisit their lives and reclaim their stories. The official London site presents the queens as Aragon, Boleyn, Seymour, Cleves, Howard and Parr; the Broadway League likewise describes a concert-style retelling. That framing is the useful starting point for an overview: the musical is about how the queens tell their stories, rather than a conventional chronological dramatization of Henry VIII’s reign. Its pop-concert approach and contemporary voice are theatrical choices, not evidence that the show is a documentary or a complete historical account.
Who wrote the show, and what does a script overview cover?
Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss are credited with the book, music and lyrics. The official descriptions establish the premise and song-based concert structure, but do not provide a reliable, detailed outline of every scene or beat in the original script. A responsible overview can explain the setup and theatrical device without inventing a sequence of scenes. Official London show information · Concord Theatricals: SIX

Is there a school edition of SIX?
Yes. Concord Theatricals lists SIX: TEEN EDITION, a full-length adaptation for teen performers and family audiences. The listing says it retains all the original songs while reworking lines and lyrics to reduce suggestive language and adapting UK references for a US audience.
Concord’s current listing gives the Teen Edition a 75-minute duration and a cast of six women plus ensemble. It states that the edition is currently available in the United States to accredited K–12 schools and youth groups whose performers are age 19 or younger. Eligibility and availability may differ by region and can change, so check the listing and licensing terms for the intended production. Concord Theatricals: SIX: TEEN EDITION

Runtime depends on the edition or production. Concord Theatricals lists the Teen Edition at 75 minutes. The Broadway League lists the Broadway production at 80 minutes with no intermission. These are edition- and production-specific figures, not a universal runtime for every staging. Concord Theatricals: SIX: TEEN EDITION · The Broadway League’s SIX listing
