In a preview published by Parade on April 24, 2025, he described his earlier claim that he had never loved his former wives as a way of shielding himself from painful emotions—not as a considered account of the relationships.
What Kody said about his breakups
The comments appeared in a preview for the Sister Wives episode scheduled for April 27, 2025. Robyn Brown said Kody had been very angry since the separations. He apologized to her and to his former wives, then reflected in a confessional on how he had tried to handle the losses.

“I’m trying to move on, but I’m kind of arrogant and cocky about how I do it in order to fight the emotions,” Kody said, according to Parade’s April 24 preview.
He also revisited his past statements that he had never loved his ex-wives, describing them as self-deception: “I was bulls–tting myself. I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m not affected by this. Those mean women, they’re gone. I never loved them anyway.’” The excerpt is censored in Parade’s report. Kody was explaining how he characterized his earlier remarks and emotional response; the preview does not independently establish what each former wife experienced.

Which wives were involved, and when did the separations happen?
The women discussed were Christine, Janelle, and Meri. Parade places their breakups in 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively. A later Us Weekly retrospective published January 1, 2026, gives more specific timing for the latter two: Janelle’s separation was in December 2022 and Meri’s in January 2023. These dates are the chronology reported by those outlets.
How the April 2025 preview fits with Kody’s later comments
The preview is a reflection on the breakups and Kody’s public response to them. It is separate from a September 2025 episode discussion in which Kody and Robyn considered whether they would pursue plural marriage again. TV Insider’s September 29 report said Kody described himself as done with polygamy and said he preferred monogamy with Robyn.

In a separate November 2025 interview on Good Day New York, Kody discussed regret and family estrangement while promoting Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. FOX 5 quoted him saying communication had ceased with some of his children; that was his account, not independent confirmation of each relationship’s status. He also said, “There’s been three divorces, and I would never do it again. I’d never marry again.” FOX 5’s November 18, 2025 coverage attributes those remarks to the interview.

On September 14, 2026, TMZ reported that a Sister Wives season 21 trailer indicated Kody and Robyn would not return for the upcoming season. TMZ said the couple had not commented at the time. The report did not establish why they would be absent, so no reason can be stated from that account. TMZ’s report is later context, not part of the April 2025 preview.
