Nelson. Rohan Campbell stars as Billy Chapman, whose childhood trauma on Christmas Eve leads him into annual holiday violence. The film opened in U.S. theaters on December 12, 2025, and Cineverse announced digital and physical home-video editions in 2026.
What is the plot of Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025)?
Billy Chapman witnesses his parents’ murder on Christmas Eve. As an adult, he carries out a cycle of violence each holiday season. The official synopsis adds a personal complication: a young woman challenges Billy as his mission collides with love. The film uses the franchise’s Christmas-horror premise while introducing that relationship conflict.

Is it a remake of the 1984 movie?
Cineverse describes the film as a reboot, while Rotten Tomatoes calls it a reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult horror film. It returns to Billy and the Christmas Eve trauma at the center of the earlier story, but the available synopsis also points to a love-story conflict. The descriptions support calling it a franchise reimagining rather than assuming it is a scene-for-scene remake.
