The marching-band song featured in the Severance Season 2 finale is “The Ballad of Ambrose and Gunnel,” performed by composer Theodore Shapiro with Brooklyn United. It opens the 18-track Season 2 score album, released digitally on March 28, 2025. The finale also features “The Kier Hymn,” a separate piece Shapiro described as having been heard in Season 1; it is not listed as its own track on the Season 2 album.
What songs does the marching band play in the Season 2 finale?
Shapiro identified two pieces in the finale: “The Kier Hymn” and “The Ballad of Ambrose and Gunnel.” The distinction matters when looking for the music: the Season 2 score album includes the named ballad, but its 18-track listing does not show a separate track titled “The Kier Hymn.” Shapiro said the hymn had already been heard in Season 1, while the script called for the second piece to be called “The Ballad of Ambrose and Gunnel.” (Bandcamp Daily interview; Apple Music album listing)
What is on the Season 2 score album?
Apple Music lists the album as an original score by Theodore Shapiro, released March 28, 2025. It contains 18 songs and runs 1 hour 1 minute. The first track is “The Ballad of Ambrose and Gunnel (feat. Brooklyn United).” The release is credited ℗ 2025 Lakeshore Records / Fifth Season Music. (Apple Music)
Film Music Reporter announced the digital release on March 27, 2025, for the following day and listed Amazon among the digital music services. Shapiro’s Bandcamp page also lists the 18-track album and its March 28 release date. (Film Music Reporter; Theodore Shapiro on Bandcamp)

How the music was fitted to the finale
In an Apple Newsroom production article published March 27, 2025, supervising editor Geoffrey Richman described the practical work of matching visible instruments to the music during the edit. Apple reported that the team worked with about 70 angles and takes, and that organizing the marching-band footage alone took more than a week. Richman said, “Music is such a big part of enhancing the show.” (Apple Newsroom)
