A judge reportedly rejected the Robinsons’ request for an emergency restraining order, but that ruling did not determine whether the alleged entry occurred.
What the Robinsons alleged happened
In a report published Dec. 10, 2025, Rolling Stone said the Robinsons alleged Jane Doe 4 used an old key to enter their unit at AAA Self Storage in Chatsworth without permission and remove property worth thousands of dollars. The filing reportedly listed boxes and two five-foot Santa statues among the items allegedly taken. These are claims by the Robinsons, not findings independently established by the reporting.
Frances Robinson said in a declaration that she learned of the incident on Dec. 8, when a facility employee showed her about 40 minutes of security footage. She said the video showed three people going to and from the unit and that she recognized one as Jane Doe 4. Frances Robinson wrote that, because Jane Doe had worked with her family for about 19 years, “I have no doubt that one of the three individuals in the security footage is, without question, Jane Doe 4.”
What Jane Doe 4 and her attorneys said
Jane Doe 4 denied the allegation through her attorneys. Stereogum reported that attorney Herbert Hayden told Rolling Stone the video had not been produced at the hearing and suggested it could be an “A.I. fabrication.” Stereogum also reported Hayden later said the video came from the storage facility and was held by the court and the Los Angeles Police Department. He called the allegation that the video was fabricated “false, desperate, and candidly, unethical.”

Co-counsel John W. Harris reportedly said Jane Doe 4 was at work at the time of the alleged incident and had not been contacted by investigators. AllHipHop separately reported Harris’s statement that she “never visited” the facility after her employment ended. The available reports do not independently authenticate or analyze the footage, or establish who appears in it or what it proves.
Did the judge grant the emergency restraining order?
No. The Robinsons sought an emergency order requiring Jane Doe 4 to turn over any remaining keys, return the property they alleged had been taken, and stay at least 100 yards away. Stereogum reported on Dec. 11, 2025, that Los Angeles County Judge Kevin C. Brazile rejected the request. The reported denial concerns emergency relief; it should not be read as a finding that the alleged entry did or did not happen.

How the storage-unit dispute relates to the other lawsuit
Jane Doe 4 is one of four former domestic workers who sued Smokey and Frances Robinson in May 2025, alleging sexual misconduct and workplace claims. The Robinsons denied those claims and filed a countersuit. Rolling Stone reported that Jane Doe 4 had worked for the family as a housekeeper, cook, and personal assistant for nearly two decades, with her employment ending in April 2024. The storage-unit allegation is a separate, disputed claim within the broader litigation.
What is known about the case now?
The reports cited here cover developments in December 2025. They do not establish later court or police developments through Oct. 8, 2026, so the Dec. 11 report should not be treated as a current account of the case’s status. The central evidence dispute also remains unresolved in those reports: the Robinsons said Frances identified Jane Doe 4 in the footage, while her attorneys denied her involvement and challenged the evidence.
