How Jon Stewart cut his hand

After noticing the bleeding, Stewart said, “I’ll be going to the hospital soon.” He kept his hand below the desk and continued the monologue. He later showed his bloody hand, laughed it off and said, “It’s fine!”
What happened after the cut
Stewart returned after a commercial break to interview Georgetown Law’s Rupa Bhattacharyya. His finger was bandaged, though it was still bleeding. The episode shows him continuing the broadcast after the accident; contemporaneous coverage does not confirm whether he went to a hospital or provide a diagnosis or later medical update.

What the “After the Cut” clip shows
Comedy Central released the follow-up clip, titled “Jon Stewart Will Do Anything for the Bit,” on February 25, the day after the episode. The Los Angeles Times reported that Stewart appeared with his finger bandaged as stagehands moved behind him. He told the audience it was not the first time he had cut himself while attempting physical comedy.
In the clip, Stewart also recalled a separate earlier incident involving a margarita blender and John Oliver. Stewart said he had hit the blender down and drawn blood, while Oliver watched gleefully and told him, “It’s just a flesh wound, stop making such a big deal of it!” That anecdote concerns a previous mishap, not the 2025 mug injury.
