Yahoo’s syndicated report is therefore evidence of what was reported, not an official statement or independently confirmed account.
The available excerpt does not establish how long any contact lasted, when it took place, or the circumstances under which it occurred. Those details should not be inferred from the headline.
A separate birthday call was reported in November
Access Hollywood reported that Combs spoke with his children by phone on November 4, 2024, his 55th birthday, and that they shared a video of the call. Its description transcribes Combs saying, “I love y’all. I love y’all so much.” Access Hollywood’s video report describes a specific later call; it does not verify the exact duration or circumstances of the brief contact described in the September report.

What changed after the pretrial story
The September 2024 headline predates Combs’s trial and sentence. The Associated Press reported that on October 3, 2025, he was sentenced to four years and two months in prison after conviction on two counts under the Mann Act. The jury acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. The AP’s sentencing report provides the later case context; it does not add confirmation about the earlier family-contact claim.
