In the Western tropical zodiac, Scorpio season in 2024 began on October 22 at 22:15 UTC and ended on November 21 at 19:56 UTC. The start may appear as October 23 in sources using Belgian local time: the same ingress was 00:15 there, just after midnight. Horoscope writers associated the period with intensity, reflection, trust and change, but those are astrological interpretations—not established effects that everyone will experience.
When Scorpio season began and ended in 2024
The Sun entered the tropical zodiac sign of Scorpio on October 22, 2024, at 22:15 UTC, and entered Sagittarius on November 21 at 19:56 UTC, according to the BirthAlmanac UTC ephemeris. The Royal Observatory of Belgium’s 2024 table gives the corresponding Belgian local times: October 23 at 00:15 and November 21 at 20:56.
So an October 22 start and an October 23 start can describe the same moment. The difference is the timezone, not a disagreement about when the Sun crossed into Scorpio. Date-only calendars may also use the familiar approximate range of October 23 to November 21 rather than show an exact ingress time.
What “Scorpio season” means
In tropical astrology, the zodiac is divided into twelve equal 30-degree zones measured from the spring equinox. The Royal Observatory explains: “The zodiac used for the calculations does not correspond to the astronomical zodiac, but to 12 zones of 30 degrees along the ecliptic, measured from the position of the Sun at the spring equinox.” Because of precession, the tropical zodiac dates do not match the Sun’s passage through the present-day astronomical constellations; the Observatory notes a difference of roughly a month.

Scorpio season therefore means the Sun’s passage through the tropical zodiac’s Scorpio zone, from 210° to 240°. It does not mean the Sun is necessarily moving through the astronomical constellation Scorpio.
What astrologers associate with Scorpio season
In Western astrology, Scorpio is commonly described as a fixed water sign and associated with emotional depth, intimacy, trust, investigation, ambition and transformation. Mars is its traditional ruler; modern popular astrology also assigns it to Pluto. These are astrological conventions and symbolic associations, not scientific findings about seasonal effects.
For its October 22, 2024 daily-sky article, Astrology.com’s Raquel Reyes wrote, “At 3:14 pm: The sun enters Scorpio–Scorpio season begins.” The page labels the time as afternoon but does not establish its timezone, so it should not be treated as a UTC time or directly compared with the exact UTC ingress without knowing the convention.
The AstroTwins’ ELLE article from October 22, 2024 framed the season around depth, trust and transformation, while cautioning that intensity can tip into burnout, paranoia or jealousy. That is the authors’ astrological perspective, not a prediction that those experiences will occur.

When sources give different Scorpio season dates, check what each one is measuring before deciding they conflict:
- Zodiac system: Tropical zodiac dates are not the same as dates for the astronomical constellation Scorpio.
- Timezone: An exact ingress near midnight can fall on different calendar dates in different locations.
- Precision: An exact ingress time is a specific moment; an inclusive date range is a rounded calendar convention.
For horoscope comparisons, note the author and publication date, and whether the reading is a general Sun-sign horoscope or a more individualized interpretation. Treat forecast language as that writer’s symbolic reading, rather than a guaranteed outcome or a report of measurable effects.
