Sarah Paulson said actor Trish Hawkins emailed her six pages of notes about her performance in Talley’s Folly—two days after the pair met at the Roundabout production. Paulson recounted the episode on the SmartLess podcast in May 2024; it concerned a 2013 revival, not her later Broadway run in Appropriate.
Who sent Sarah Paulson the notes?
Paulson identified the actor as Trish Hawkins, who had played the role before her. In Paulson’s recollection, they met after Hawkins attended Paulson’s performance in Talley’s Folly at Roundabout. Hawkins remarked, “Your dress is yellow. Mine was pink,” as reported by People via Yahoo Entertainment on May 14, 2024.
What did the six pages say, and when did they arrive?
Paulson said an email arrived two days after their meeting. It ran six pages and, in her account, discussed Hawkins’s earlier interpretation of the role and offered recommendations for Paulson. Paulson called the episode “outrageous” and said she had kept the letter.
Which production was Paulson discussing?
The anecdote involved Paulson’s performance in the 2013 Roundabout revival of Talley’s Folly. Although the headline refers to a Broadway show, the cited account identifies this production as off-Broadway. Paulson was appearing in Appropriate on Broadway when the podcast episode came out in May 2024; that was a separate production, not the setting for the notes story.
How did Paulson describe the incident?
Paulson said she had not forgotten the episode. The report quoted her addressing Hawkins: “Trish Hawkins, I have not forgotten it, and I hope to see you never.” The account is Paulson’s recollection on a podcast; the cited report said Hawkins was not immediately reachable for comment.
