Serena Williams celebrated her sister Venus’s wedding with a heartfelt Instagram tribute on December 23, 2025, calling her a “built-in best friend,” protector and teacher. The post accompanied photographs from the wedding and reflected on the sisters’ lifelong bond; it was a social-media message, not a documented interview.
What Serena wrote about Venus
Serena opened her Instagram post, as reproduced by Access Hollywood, with: “My sister’s keeper. Venus, where do I even begin?” She recalled the sisters’ journey “from the backyard courts to the biggest stages in the world,” then described the roles Venus has played in her life: “You’ve been my built-in best friend, my protector, my teacher, and my reminder to always walk in purpose.”
Serena also celebrated seeing Venus surrounded by love as she began a new chapter. “Watching you step into this next chapter surrounded by love felt like watching the sun rise…steady, powerful, and full of promise,” she wrote. She closed by celebrating “a lifetime of choosing each other every single day” and saying, “I couldn’t be prouder to stand beside you, not just today, but always.”
Venus and Andrea Preti’s wedding celebrations
Venus Williams and Andrea Preti celebrated their wedding in Palm Beach, Florida, over five days in December 2025. The Associated Press reported that they became wife and husband over the weekend as part of the multiday celebration.

There was also an earlier ceremony: Vogue reported that the couple held an intimate one in Ischia, Italy, before the Palm Beach festivities. The Italy ceremony adds context to the wedding celebrations, but Serena’s December tribute was tied to the Palm Beach occasion.
Serena’s yacht-party gift
Venus told Vogue that Serena gave the couple a yacht party and arranged the food. Tennis.com’s account of that interview described a Monday-night yacht gathering hosted by Serena for a small group of family and friends. The report does not establish that Serena organized the entire wedding.

Was Serena speaking in an interview?
The reported words came from Serena’s Instagram tribute, reproduced by Access Hollywood, rather than a separate interview about the wedding. The message’s personal tone is what makes it an emotional statement: Serena framed Venus as both her sister and a lifelong source of friendship, protection and guidance.
