Scarlett Johansson organized a video call with fellow Avengers-film actors to endorse Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and urge people to vote ahead of the November 5, 2024, U.S. election. Released on October 31, the video was a campaign message from the actors—not a Marvel Studios or Disney production or endorsement.
What happened in the video
The short video opens with Johansson starting a group call. The actors joke about their familiar screen personas, trade lines, and work toward an election catchphrase. The Guardian described it as just over 90 seconds long. The group’s message supported Harris and Walz and encouraged viewers to vote before Election Day. The Guardian’s October 31 report covered the video and its catchphrase.
Which Avengers actors appeared?
The actors named in coverage were:
- Scarlett Johansson
- Robert Downey Jr.
- Mark Ruffalo
- Don Cheadle
- Chris Evans
- Danai Gurira
- Paul Bettany
They are associated with the Avengers films; the video was not presented as an official Marvel or Disney statement.
How Johansson brought the group together
Johansson said she reached out to fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe alumni in their group chat and took the lead in organizing the project. She told Vanity Fair that the conversation quickly became a contest of one-liners, and joked that Downey and Ruffalo were “bickering like two old ladies.”
