Saiyaara is a Hindi romantic musical in which an artistic partnership becomes a love story under threat from illness and loss. Mohit Suri’s film draws its strongest pull from Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s chemistry and its music; its familiar story and uneven, dialogue-heavy stretches can make the emotion feel less fully earned. Whether it soars may depend on how much the performances and songs carry you through those dips.

What is Saiyaara about?
Krish is a musician; Vaani is a perceptive writer. Their creative partnership fits because each seems to supply what the other lacks: in Yash Raj Films’ official description, she is a writer without a voice and he a musician without words. They fall in love, but a diagnosis threatens the future they are making together, and Vaani’s episodes become more frequent.
That premise places the film between romantic exhilaration and the dread of impending loss. The story’s emotional stakes are clear without needing to disclose the later turns, so this review stays spoiler-light.
Do the leads and music make the romance work?
The central relationship is the film’s most persuasive asset. Both Hindustan Times and The Indian Express recognize a spark between Panday and Padda. Their pairing gives the romance a point of connection, while the music supports a story in which creating together is part of falling in love.

Hindustan Times also identifies the music as a strength. Its emotional sweep can lift the love story, though there is a trade-off: when scenes do not build feeling as effectively, the songs can seem to carry weight the writing has not fully earned. That push and pull is central to the film’s appeal and its limitation.
Where does the film lose momentum?
The romance follows a familiar shape, a reservation noted by Hindustan Times. Familiarity is not automatically a flaw in a love story, but it leaves performance and execution with more work to do if the film is to make well-known beats feel freshly affecting.

The Indian Express points to dialogue-heavy and inconsistent stretches that blunt the bittersweet effect. This is the clearest divide between the film’s emotional ambition and how steadily it reaches that ambition: the leads may hold attention, but not every passage sustains the same momentum.
Is Saiyaara worth watching?
It is a worthwhile choice for viewers drawn to earnest musical romances, especially those who value lead chemistry and songs as much as narrative surprise. Go in expecting a familiar romantic framework and some uneven stretches rather than an unbroken emotional crescendo. The two reviews cited here are individual critical assessments, not a measure of wider audience response.

If illness and the prospect of loss are difficult subjects for you, the film’s premise makes those concerns relevant; the available official synopsis does not establish more specific medical detail. The film’s emotional register aims for both romantic uplift and heartbreak, and the balance may land differently for different viewers.
