Short n’ Sweet is Sabrina Carpenter’s sixth studio album, built around sharp relationship writing, self-directed humor and bright pop that moves between acoustic, twangy and synth-pop textures. Its 12-track standard edition captures a particular moment in Carpenter’s career: a breakthrough that also earned major Grammy recognition.
1. The standard edition has 12 songs
Carpenter released Short n’ Sweet on August 23, 2024, as her sixth studio album. Universal Music Canada’s release announcement lists 12 tracks on the standard edition, and Apple Music catalogs that version at 12 songs and 36 minutes. Apple Music also lists a separate 17-song Deluxe edition; that is a different catalog version, not the standard album’s track count.
The standard tracklist, in order, is:
- “Taste”
- “Please Please Please”
- “Good Graces”
- “Sharpest Tool”
- “Coincidence”
- “Bed Chem”
- “Espresso”
- “Dumb & Poetic”
- “Slim Pickins”
- “Juno”
- “Lie to Girls”
- “Don’t Smile”

2. The title is about emotional impact, not just a height joke
In Apple Music’s interview-based editorial, Carpenter says some relationships she considered were the shortest she had experienced, yet affected her most: “I thought about some of these relationships, how some of them were the shortest I’ve ever had and they affected me the most.” She also connects the title to her own way of responding to situations, sometimes kindly and sometimes less so. The title, she explains, was not simply a reference to being “vertically challenged.”
#1 Best Overall
- Short n' Sweet showcases the scintillating spirit of Sabrina Carpenter, the pocket-sized popstar with a larger-than-life artistic presence
That double meaning suits an album that makes brevity feel like part of its point: a relationship can be short-lived and still leave enough material for a cutting song—or a joke at the narrator’s own expense. The lyrics are best read as crafted storytelling, not evidence identifying real people or private histories.

3. The bite comes with humor and accountability
The album’s relationship songs can be pointed, but they are not only about blaming someone else. Carpenter told Apple Music, “A lot of what I really love about this album is the accountability.” That self-critique gives the writing another angle: the narrator can call out an ex while also acknowledging her own reactions and choices.
Comedy is part of the songwriting approach, not just a bright coating over serious material. Carpenter said, “So much of this album was made in the moments where there was something that I just couldn’t stop laughing about.” That helps explain how a song can sound breezy while its lines are pointed, self-aware or both.

Apple Music’s editorial characterizes the album’s sounds as ranging through acoustic, twangy and synth-pop touches. Those changes give the songs different settings without requiring a new narrative voice: much of the appeal lies in the conversational delivery and crisp turns of phrase that carry across the shifts.

Universal Music Canada credits Carpenter as a writer alongside Amy Allen, Julia Michaels, Steph Jones, John Ryan, Julian Bunetta and Jack Antonoff, who is also credited as a producer. Those are album-level credits; they do not mean every contributor worked on every track.
