The selfie showed Crowe without the thick beard familiar from his recent public appearances. Coverage of the image also noted that his hair looked different and that he wore spectacles and a black T-shirt. The change was therefore more than simply removing his beard.
A fan quoted by 7NEWS reacted, “Wow, you look 20 years younger!” That was an individual impression, not a measured change in Crowe’s age or appearance.

“First shave since 2019” sets the timeline: he had not shaved since that year. It does not mean this was his first shave ever.

The phrase “The actor prepares” points toward preparation, but Crowe’s post did not name a project or explain the reason. iHeart reported that he did not reveal which film prompted the shave. Reports about roles he might take on do not establish that a specific role caused this change.

So the confirmed answer is limited: Crowe showed his clean-shaven appearance and described it as his first shave since 2019. A particular film connection remains unconfirmed.
