Russell Brand said Donald Trump invited him to choose any one thing from Trump’s office during a meeting at Trump Tower. The 2016 account does not say what Brand chose—or establish that he took anything. “Left confused” is a framing of the story, not a reaction independently documented in the available coverage.
What Brand said Trump asked him
In an account reported by the Irish Independent on October 14, 2016, Brand recalled going into Trump’s office and being told: “You can choose any one thing from the office.” The request is known through Brand’s recollection as reported by the newspaper; it is not presented as an independently recorded quotation from Trump.

Brand also joked about the building bearing Trump’s name, describing the invitation to the tower as “sort of charming” and comparing the possessiveness to a baby saying “my tower.” The same report quotes Brand calling Trump “sweet and really silly” and “a wanton baby,” while also saying Trump had been rude to him. Those are Brand’s impressions, not independently verified character assessments.
Where the story appeared
The Irish Independent connected Brand’s account to his appearance on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show. The British Comedy Guide listing identifies a video in which Brand talks about meeting Trump and supports that program context. The listing by itself does not verify the wording of the reported request.

Did Russell Brand choose or take anything?
The cited coverage does not identify an object Brand selected, say that he accepted the offer, or establish that he left with anything from the office. The reported invitation is the endpoint of what is known about that particular exchange; naming a souvenir or claiming a payoff would go beyond the evidence.
What Brand later recalled
In a later Joe Rogan Experience conversation, Brand said he had interviewed Trump roughly five years earlier, before Trump became president. Brand recalled Trump as pleasant while perceiving little intellectual curiosity. This is a separate retrospective account and does not clarify whether Brand chose anything at Trump Tower. The transcript is available at Podscripts’ transcript of episode 1283.

Not the 2016 Trump Tower campaign meeting
Brand’s anecdote concerns his own meeting with Trump. It is not the separate June 2016 Trump Tower meeting involving Donald Trump Jr. and campaign associates.
